This is the best Italian restaurant in Morgan Hill as far as I'm concerned. The staff is always very friendly and accomodating which is extremely important to me. Maurizio is a great guy and is often there at the restaurant running things. The restaurant features an authentic Sicilian menu and an excellent wine list. I usually have the chicken marsala which is always excellent. I've never eaten a bad meal or had a negative experience at this restaurant. The restaurant itself isn't that large so I would definately make a reservation if you want to dine with a party that's larger than four. In fact, I've never really seen this restaurant slow, so I would reccomend reservations regardless of the size of your party or day of the week.

Call ahead for reservations--unless you'd like to wait 1.5+ hrs. to be seated. Food was great, including my made-to-order pasta. The chef checked with me and made sure that I liked the way he prepared my dish once we were served as well. The staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond. When we left, my friend forgot his glasses at the table. The staff found them, looked for us outside, and since we'd left already....checked their reservations for the evening and called my cellphone in order to let us know they had the eyeglasses there. Outstanding! This restaurant is very small, so on a busy night it can get very loud. The extra noisy party behind us and the people at the table next to us that were using more than their fair share of space (I kept getting elbowed by the guy at the next table) definitely made the evening less enjoyable.....but the food is amazing and completely made up for the atmosphere. We'll definitely be back, but I think we'll be doing take-out, just to avoid the other inconsiderate patrons.

A couple of weeks ago I went to this fabulous Italian restaurant and the experience was nothing less than fabulous. The food was outstanding and was prepared to perfection. Yes, it is a little pricy, but you get what you pay for and it is worth it. The environment was busy and joyful and would not expect anything different from a business that serves the quality of food that Maurizio's does. We had reservations and were seated in a very timely manor but if you do not have reservations you would expect a long wait. The service was great from the time we were greeted at the door till the time we left. Our waiter "Mark" was humorous and made our dinning experience feel special. Thank you Maurizo for putting together great food, environment, and staff to provide a dinning experience that is worth the money.

How much do we LOVE this restaurant?? My husband and I first came here last New Year's Eve, as it also happens to be our anniversary, and we had the most incredible meal. Since then, we've been back several times, including my recent 40-something birthday, when I was able -- thanks to a tip from our table neighbors -- to order an incredible off-menu pasta stuffed with asiago cheese and spiced pears. Yum!! Everything is fresh and can be made to order, and the desserts are fabulous. Maurizio comes around and chats with patrons, and the cozy, intimate setting enhances the whole experience. Love it!

Friendly staff and good food. The portions could be a little bit bigger for the price. Overall a good experience

Tonight was my second time at Maurizio's in Morgan Hill. The first time was about a year ago. I'm still trying to decide if this little Italian restaurant is worth the drive more frequently. I love the roasted garlic olive oil they serve with their fresh bread, this alone is worthy of 5 stars. They have added chili to the roasted garlic olive oil since my last visit and it is indeed a good change, it adds a little kick. The food is pretty good, I had pasta with roasted pears, sage, and Gorgonzola. I love that the pasta is handmade, delicate and delicious although I wish this dish had packed a little more punch flavor wise. My friend had the clam chowder and halibut and really seemed to enjoy both. We shared the chocolate bomb for dessert which was chocolate and vanilla gelato with a cherry in the middle coated in a chocolate shell...good but very sweet. I also love Maurizio, he always welcomes you when he sees you and is very cheerful...which is surprising considering how very busy they are. He must truly love what he does. Be prepared for the wait and very slow service so go with this in mind.

Best restaurant in town. Great down home Italian food! Only dishes I would not recommend are the Gnocci (not terrible, but I;ve had better) and the pork chops. Overdone, but that it typical in restaurants. Everything else is amazing. Great service. Maurizio himself is a great guy and often found in the kitchen making the meals himself.

My wife and I got there at 11:31 AM and we were the second set of patrons there. We ordered the lunch specials: Pasta Primavera and Chicken Fettuccine. We placed our order at 11:35 AM and started getting annoyed when we didn't get our food at 12:15 PM! When I asked the server what the delay was about, she responded that since everything is made fresh, it takes a long time. Finally we were served our lunch at 12:20 PM, a full 45 minutes after we ordered!. Mind you, two other couples who came after us, received their lunches and were FINISHED before our lunch reached our table. The food quality was average at best, the portions were small and there were FLIES buzzing around our table. I was very unimpressed by this restaurant and will not return or recommend it to anyone.

I've been here twice w/ my husband (once my parents joined us as well) and my husband has the good fortune to frequent it for lunch. It's always a lovely experience and great food. Always very busy, another good sign, but does make for a louder dining experience. Maurizio is a jewel! On the evening I went w/ just my husband, he came by our table in between courses and apologized for the wait. We didn't think there was an abnormally long wait, but we also look at dining such as this as an evening event, not a fast food experience. So, since we'd already had our appetizer and in the meantime had our wine and conversation, we were fine. But Maurizio insisted on giving us (& some other guest) some of his special Grappa to sip while we waited. We love Grappa, so we didn't complain about that either. It's just simply one of the best over-all dining experience in the area.

Wow, this is a busy italian restaurant. We booked a reservation in person for the next day at 6pm. When we came back, the hostess remembered us and immediatly took us to a window-side table. Customer service is fantastic! My husband had the "Cannelloni al forno": Fresh pasta rolled and stuffed with house made ground meat, baked and served in tomato cream sauce for $16. Excellent! I had the "Cavatappi con salsiccia": Penne pasta with Italian sausage, roasted bell peppers and mushrooms in fresh light spicy tomato sauce. $16. The best ever! Spicy too, just the way I like it. I would highly recommend this place. Ambiance is great, food is really authentic and tasty.

We read about Maurizio's on yelp...it got rave reviews so we went and loved it! Its a small restaurant with gigantic charm! I highly recommend giving this place a try. The menu is not standard Italian fare either, its traditional "real deal" Italian dishes. Fantastic Place! :D

Absolutely my favorite place to eat. Why leave Morgan Hill when you can have amazing food and wonderful warm hosts. Mauritzio greets everyone with a ciao and a wave from the kitchen. I prefer to have him order for me, as his taste is always right on. AMAZING gorgonzola gnocci. Don't come expecting to have a quick meal. In Italy food is to be enjoyed slowly with friends, and that is how it is at Mauritzio's. If you know up front and can sit and relax and enjoy it is a wonderful dining experience. I also highly recommend reservations Th-Sun nights.

Two words: Homemade orecchiette! Don't miss out on this restaurant! As said before, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in the Bay Area. Nothing beats homemade pasta and it's really hard to come by, even at some of the best Italian restaurants. Last night I had the AMAZING orecchiette, broccoli rabe and sausage for $17. Can't wait to eat the leftovers for lunch today. It was a special, so not sure how often you can get it. Also tasty is the orecchiette dish my dad ordered with tomato sauce, mussels and cannelini beans. My husband had the grilled pork tenderloins wrapped in pancetta which was also very good. It normally comes with gorgonzola gnocchi, which, as explained by Maurizio himself, complements the grilled pork nicely, but my husband can't eat cream so he substituted orecchiette with tomato sauce and goat cheese. Yum! This place is small, so make reservations in advance! They are already booked for next weekend. The owner/chef is from Italy and I love that he was serving some of the tables. Usually his wife is the hostess, but I guess she was off last night. The place is always full of regulars and they have a sticker on their door that says they are loved on Yelp:). A couple other things you should know is that the pasta dishes are mainly fettucine and linguini (try the seafood one!), but they do have rigatoni and, of course, the orrecchiette as well. Also limited are the beef dishes. There are a couple veal, some chicken, one pork and one beef, plus a fish special and some other meat special.

A nice yelp find on our way to Half Moon Bay. Quick service, hearty italian food, I had the low cal pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon on a bed of gorgonzola gnocchi while my son had the veal (also deliciously rich), wife and daughter enjoyed pasta and salad. Friendly service, well attended, a bit too loud and bright for an intimate dinner but lots of fun.

Well honestly, dont' know if I can give this place a review since we ended up walking out. Very disappointed since I read reviews on here and was excited to take my boyfriend to a gem for his birthday. We showed up and after 50 minutes with no appetizers and being told they had a big party in front of us; we walked out. They are on the higher end as well with prices, so I thought I'd get better service. We ended up going home and having sandwiches.....

We went on a Saturday night and the place was PACKED. It is small inside, and when you first walk in the door the Hostess stand is right next to the door... so you need to be really careful that you don't get HIT by the door, while standing there waiting ;) There was a bit of a mix up with tables... as our table for 6 was given away to another party. But, it worked out okay, since 2 of our friends couldn't make it at the last minute. The hostess didn't really let us know what she was stressing out about as she ran around and talked to people... but we started to figure it out (our table had been given away) and we finally got her attention to let her know it was okay :) The food was really, really, really good! I got the halibut which was a special... and I was very impressed with my meal. I also got a Caeser salad to start, and it was also very good. Everyone was pleased with their meals... fabulous! I didn't get dessert (way too full) but, the rest of the table did, and they thought each of their desserts were mediocre... all 3 got something different too. So, I didn't feel like I was missing out, since no-one was overly impressed with the dessert part. They had a couple of birthday celebrations while we were there, and they play a Happy Birthday song over the loud speakers throughout the restaurant, while the patrons all join in :) And, there are flashing colorful lights that start going off also... it was very tastefully done... and a nice change from the poor wait staff having to rely on their own vocals alone ;) I would definitely go back again! Maybe on a quieter night though :)

Living in Gilroy and loving fine dining is not a great combination. Maurizio's is our go to place for a good meal. The service is good and attentive. The food is classic Italian - with simple, good flavors with high end ingredients. I like that they feature local wines. There are many nights that I am grateful to have found this little gem.

Thank you Yelp reviewers!!! Family owned and operated, great food and good service. We were in town with a small group for a triathlon and were looking for a place to carb load the night before. I found the review on Yelp and made reservations. The atmosphere was friendly and we had the sense that most of the patrons were regulars. The service was excellent and all of the dishes we ordered were very good. My only complaint is that the restaurant is small and we did feel a little crowded...a family right behind us with kids had a portable DVD player on the table. But other than that, it was a good experience and a very good value as well.

Had a lovely week night dinner on our way down to Monterey. Took Yelper suggestions and got the Rotelle which did not disappoint - YUM! We brought our kids with us and the waiter was very nice about offering to make any pasta dish to their tastes but my guys aren't fussy and ate off the main menu - but i thought that was nice of him to ask. Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts but I rarely order it in a restaurant cause I am always disappointed - the waiter told me they made it onsite so I odered it and it was DELISH! The kids had the spumoni ice cream which was also as I remembered it as a kid. My husband and one son also loved the canneloni. The gnocchi was ok but the other dishes were just excellent! Very nice feel in cute area. I will be back. Must order: Rotelle and Tiramisu

I have never been disappionted at Maurizio's - ok, just once, they were having a private party and wouldn't let us in, I should have lied and said I was there for the party : ) The food and service here are consistently good here. They have an Italian signer come in a few times a month and he ends his show by turning the place into an Italian Karoke with all the patrons joining him to sing 'That's Amore'. Back to the food: Start your meal with a calamari or Bruschetta whcih is piled high with fresh tomatoes. The house salad is great. When Maurizio makes the special "purse" style ravioli with pear and cheese stuffing and a gorgonzola dressing get it! The Spaghetti Puttanesca is terrific - it is a spicy marinara over spaghetti with capers, olives and tomatoes. I have never been disappointed with one of their entrees. There is a nice wine list, ask your server for advice or Mrs. Maurizio. The dessert list is mostly premade but after I am done with their dinners there is no room for dessert!

Excellent!! By far the BEST Italian restaurants in the South Bay. I actually challenge anyone to find a better Italian restaurant in the south bay. I'll be happy to be proven wrong. Nice cozy restaurant. Greeted promptly by the server, and they were really apologetic as our table wasn't ready as promised. They offered us wine whilst we were waiting. We passed After being seated, we were offered Warm Ciabatta & Roasted Garlic in Olive Oil. The Garlic was actually sweet, which was just too good. We went for the Eggplant Appetizer & for the main course we went for the Pasta with Vodka sauce. Both were delicious, and had an excellent tomato sauce with it. Rich in flavors & perfectly cooked Dessert: Tiramisu was the best I've eaten. Spumoni was OK I am so tempted to write an extremely detailed review, but am trying not to get carried away Its not for people in a hurry. Not that the service is slow, its actually discreet & perfectly timed. Food is cooked fresh, which adds to the time. If you like Italian, and specially for a special occasion, this restaurant is worth it.

This place is SO good! My husband and I went for dinner ther other night and we both ordered the Swordfish special. It was by far the BEST fish I've ever had. We also ordered the house salad which was super good too! We will definitely go back!

This place is awesome! This is our favorite Italian restaurant in the whole of SF bay area! The food is very tasty and flavorful! Maurizio, the owner is very attentive and takes personal care of every one! Every time I went, he made something vegetarian specially for me. First time it was fettucine with veggies, the second time it was Penne with veggies and the third time it was a veggie sandwich! They are all wonderful. Their tomato sauce is to die for. More than that, their bread with garlic oil is enough for me to keep going back there again. One of the times I went, since the restaurant was very crowded and the order took time, the server for the night offered us free wine while we waited! Very courteous staff and awesome food!

The restaurant is quite a hike from San Francisco but since my friend lives nearby I trekked out this way into their neck of the woods for dinner with them. Cute little Italian restaurant with great authentic pastas. Everything tastes - well at least in my head... like you've been asked to an Italian family's home for dinner.

I love the food and the atmosphere. Absolutely wonderful. I can't recommend this out-of-the-way place enough. If you like Italian food in a quaint setting you'll love Maurizio's.

This place gets good marks. The food is good. I was baffled once a few months back...i was at the Costco in Gilroy early one weekday morning and saw Maurizio himself in the checkout line with tens and tens of packages of premade pasta (you know, ravioli, tortellini, the types of pasta that are stuffed with cheese, mushrooms, etc...). Maybe he had a picnic to go to and didn't have time to do the homemade thing????

    (3)
  • Julie M.

Very delicious but a wee bit pricey. If there was a 3.5 star option I would use it. It's an intimate restaurant with very limited seating. If you don't get there early enough, plan on a long wait. The food itself is very good, especially the gnocchi, best I've ever had. The service is always adequate, but sometimes better than others.

what a nice find (thanks Rosa) had a quick business lunch and although it's not super fancy looking the food was very, very good. there were 3 of us and we each ordered something differenc and they were all great. highly recommend this place!

I wouldn't eat at any of Maurizio's restaurant even if I was starving to death. Besides the fact that we finally gave up waiting for our dinner after over an hour, Maurizio came out and started yelling at us. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO EAT. He also owns Fuzio's and Mangia La Pizza

Been here many times and it never disappoints - the atmosphere is intimate and homey. The food is authentic and delicious - no matter what dish you get! went last night, heard it was real good!!! not. we sat on top of the table next to us, could have shared the bread basket. Food was just ok, had a mexican flair not italian but then again the cooks are mexican. very loud, no privacy, service just ok. would not go again for the price. would rather set at a little table at taco bell for a fraction of the price.

  • Richard L.

Used to love this place. I used to come in here and had the same great waiter all the time. Made me laugh, but mostly made me feel at home. Now I go in there and I'm just another nobody. The place has lost the appeal in spit of having good food. I can have good food anywhere. But it's rare to find a place that makes you feel at home by knowing your name and knowing what you like on a regular basis.

Maurizio's is Authentic Italian at it's best. Maurizio is the person who will welcome you with open arms to his restaurant, cook you the best Italian meal, and then give you a kiss on the way out.

On our way headed to north of the bay area, Spouse and I stopped here for lunch. We had been here for dinner years before and enjoyed it. It is a small but charming place. We were immediately greeted by a man who we think is the owner. He was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We were quickly served with water, warm bread, and olive oil with roasted garlic cloves. The gentleman who greeted us came back and advised us of the specials and that they could also make almost anything we wanted-- just ask. We both had the ensalada mista (mixed green salad). It was delicious (although it did not have garbanzo beans that I was pretty sure had been listed, but not a huge deal). I ordered the hand-made lamb raviolis with browned butter & sage leaves (a special). The portion was reasonably sized (some places can be incredibly skimpy on ravioli) and it was very tasty. I could have used a little more sauce, but augmented a bit with the garlic olive oil. Spouse also had a special-- cheese tortellini with an alfredo-like sauce, mushrooms & slices of prosciutto. It was wonderful. Between the salads and entrees, we ate every bite. We only had iced tea because we were driving and we skipped dessert, so cannot report on wines or desserts. We had excellent food and service and would recommend to others and will return when we are next in the area.

Maurizio's is by far the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. Maurizio was very pleasant and really knew what he was talking about. The roasted garlic in the olive oil for the bread, that gained big points for me. I ordered the ravioli al gorgonzola, it was so good, and the portions weren't huge, they were perfect. Although, it is a bit of a drive for me, I will definitely be returning!

I agree with some of the other reviews, this is by far the best Italian place in Morgan Hill. We've been going here for years and it gets better and better each and every time. Maurizio is helpful, energetic, and from Italy. ;-) Great place, good atmosphere, good hard-working people.

Decided to try it before visiting the corn maze in Hollister this past Fri. A trusted friend heartily recommended it as well. First impression was that it was cute(meaning small) and quaint. It was nice to see families with kids and couples all dining together. The decor is rustic meets Italian countryside. We were very comfortable outside thanks to the mild autumn weather. The waiter was just okay. He seemed a little over extended even saying their were only four waiters for the whole restaurant. From what I observed, fr/ standing inside the front door where the hostess' podium is, there are two large dining rooms. The food is genuine Italian and the best I have ever had in the states. Among the dishes one of the best was one of the specials-a risotto with mushrooms. You can tell when a dish has been perfected and is made with care and not thrown together hap hazardly. Definitely a gem deep in the south bay!

Usually I would have given this 5 stars, but I recently went into this restaurant and noticed that they changed their menu. They took ALL of the good dishes off! I don't know why they changed it, they had alot of customers. Too bad, I really enjoyed them until this. I used to go a few times a month, but now I may only go once a year. Please Maurizio, change your menu back!!!

I love this place. They accommodated us after we were turned away from the other Italian restaurant because we did not have reservations even though it was completely empty. We entered Italian food in our Garmin and got Maurizio's across the street. It was a small place, when we got in front, a family of 5 got in and got back out and said that they were booked but they could probably accommodate us since there were 2 of us. We sat on a booth in front of the kitchen which I thought was the best seat in the house. We got to see the the action of the food being prepared and cooked. The chef/owner was charming, friendly, and warm. The best part about him is that he is a Shark's fan and holds season tickets. The food is awesome, it was fresh and delicious.

Great authentic Italian food (though I liked the old menu choices better). Maurizio makes you feel at home. Never had a bad meal there. Its nice to pay for a quality meal and know your money is going to good people.

I'll keep it short.... the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy. The service was slow, and it took forever to order and get our food. There was only one high chair in the place and someone else was using it when we got there. We waited 15 minutes or so for the high chair, but I guess it was a somewhat busy night. If it wasn't for the delicious meal I had I might not return... it would be nice if they hired more help or somehow made the wait a little easier.... simple appetizers to entertain you while you wait would be nice. I'll probably go here again, but not with a baby.

Based on the recommendations here, I took some business associates to Maurizio's for dinner. It is a very small restaurant, so if you have more than 4, I would definitely make reservations. I was not disappointed. The waiter was wonderful! He was knowledgeable, polite, and very funny. The food came quickly, was hot and very good. Overall, it was a very pleasant evening. I am planning to go back with my family.

Best Italian in Morgan Hill, by far. Authentic, good service and fair prices. You will se the owner, Maurizio there very often if he's not down the street at his pizzeria, which is good too.

Great little place! We called about an hour ahead for reservations. When we arrived they had saved us a table, the last one available, by the window. The place was buzzing. Alberto, our waiter, was very good, witty and into the buzz as well. Service was prompt although we were prepared for a more drawn out evening based on the prior reviews. My pork short rib over gnocchi was terrific. The Insalata Firenza was tasty, well balanced and crisp. The calamari appetizer was served very hot with a light, crispy batter. The meat was lean, the gnocchi perfectly prepared and covered in a tasty marinara sauce. The perfect dinner was finished with a nice Tiramisu and espresso. It was our first time here, but we're definitely coming back to try other dishes. Definitely call ahead for reservations on popular nights.

Maurizio's is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the South Bay. The menu is perhaps a bit limited, but I generally don't even look at it. Your waiter will always tell you what the daily specials are, and you just can't go wrong if you select one of those. I highly recommend the fish special --- whatever it may be. It's the freshest fish available on any given day, and Maurizio has a special knack for preparing fish perfectly every time. Reservations are definitely needed on Friday and Saturday nights. (Surprisingly, Maurizio's is closed on Sundays). I've also been to Maurizio's for lunch on several occasions. There's hardly ever a crowd at lunch, and the lunch portions are "just the right size". (i.e., you can go back to work and not fall into a food coma around 2pm). Based solely on the food and the price, I'd probably give Maurizio's 4 or 4.5 stars. However, Maurizio and his staff are so warm and accommodating, that I'm giving them a full 5 stars. In my opinion, it's definitely worth the 20-25 minute drive down to Morgan Hill to enjoy a meal at Maurizio's!

I love love love this place. My family and I went to Maurizio's for my birthday last year, and it was just wonderful. The staff are so professional and friendly, Maurizio is a complete cut-up, and the food, oh my, the food. It is just incredible. This little gem is worth visiting.

Who knew little Morgan Hill has one of the best Italian restaurants. I love Italian food and have been to Bella Mia, A Ballagio, Maggianos but Maurizio's is now on my top list. The place is tiny but the food is incredible. For a large party, reservation is recommended. I will definitely go back. What a great place.

I have been going to Maurizios for many years, and have enjoyed consistanly very good Italian food there when Maurizio is cooking or in the kitchen directing the other cooks. Recently he has opened two other restaurants in Morgan Hill, and is rarely at his Italian (Maurizios) restaurant. Unfortunately the service is lacking and the cooks which are all hispanic are lacking the personal touch and authenticity that Maurizo himself has developed and prided himself on. I recently went there for lunch and ordered his great linguini putanesca, with calamari, eggplant and extra spicy as most Italians enjoy. Well the helping was not the same size, the calamari...well I had to look to try and find it, and all rings with no tenicals which I enjoy! Maurizio has spoiled me when I came there with generous portions and made to order the way you like it. Since he is rarely there cooking anymore, I think the food has lost that great homemade touch and even taste. Too bad, it was one of my favorite places. I will not make reservations in the future unless Maurizio himself is working the kitchen the night I plan to go. It seems to have lost the homestyle, and personal touch only he can add, otherwise it's just another Italian resturant. Tom M. Gilroy, Ca.

I have dined at this place many times - mostly for lunch. Food is generally good (nothing spectacular) and I always thought of this place as a "safe" choice for lunch. Last time I ordered soup and salad - the salad didn't taste right, it just didn't taste like it does on other days...I told the waiter that something is wrong with my Caesar salad, perhaps it's been sitting with the dressing for a while. My colleague had the same complaint about her salad too. Maurizio came to our table and we tried to keep it very quiet and told him what the problem is .... literally whispering in consideration of all other clients having lunch around us. You won't believe the big deal he made out of this - he accused both my friend and I that we don't know what good salad is.....he totally dismissed our remark and shake his head disapprovingly by not even trying to make us happy. He left the salads on our table and walked away waiving his hand at us.....Guess what - we walked out. I may like most of the dishes there but I certainly cannot deal with his attitude.

Great atmosphere and fabulous food ... watch out for "extras" that are offered to you such as salad/soup that sound as if they are included with your meal but you are actually charged extra for... Still a great place to eat and would definately go there again.

This is a great find. I've been here a few times since moving to Morgan Hill, including my birthday with family, and the response to this place has been unanimously five stars. The pasta dishes are great, the ambiance lively but still classy, and the service has been excellent. Very nice wine menu too. I can't really think of much else to ask for in a nice, local Italian restaurant.

Maurizio has lived and worked in Morgan Hill for many years and I have always liked him. I recall when he first arrived from Italy and spoke no English. He was a waiter then at a restaurant that is long gone and when I asked for bread, he didn't know what I wanted until he figured out I wanted pane. Later he ran a small sandwich, juice and gelato shop that had the best sandwiches in town. Now, of course, his English is very good and he has always been very friendly. Maurizio's is arguably the best restaurant in town. When you walk in, you pass the open kitchen; I like a place where they are not afraid to let you see the kitchen and how the food is prepared. When you come in, say ciao and ask Maurizio what's good. You will find him enthusiastic and he is always happy to fix anything you can describe.

This is the best Italian food I've ever had. In fact, I get seriously upset when I go to the city, eat Italian, pay as much or more, and then find out it's not as good as Maurizio's. You can't go wrong here.

I know a lot of people really like this restaurant. It just wasn't for me. I wanted to find a great place to go for our third year anniversary and wanted a really nice Italian place. I looked at the reviews for this place on yelp and a lot of people recommended it and really liked it. So I decided to give it a try. More and more I am finding that I prefer the Americanized version of food. I am Italian and love Italian food, but when I eat really authentic Italian I don't care for it much. For instance, I LOVE Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill, but hated Maurizio's. I ordered the Eggplant Parm and really disliked it. They left the skin on and it was really mushy-just not what I'm used to. And my husband ordered steak-it was ok but we've had better. I really wanted a romantic place as well and this place was packed but really small and I got a claustrophobic feel. So I wouldn't go there again. It might be perfect for some, but for me I really like atmosphere and more popular Italian food. On the plus side, we made a reservation and got there an hour early and were still seated immediately and they gave us a complimentary anniversary dessert. That was nice.

First day chef came to the outside seating and said he just found some awesome scallops and mentioned all the specials of the day. I had the scallops and they were great. Another special was the linguine and clams so I came back a week later to try and it wasn't on the menu but they had no problem making it. You can tell the food is fresh and the staff cares about their customers. I only post on above average service/food or horrible service to help others. This is definitely an excellent place. Only had lunch but someday will see if dinner has a different menu.

Try the polenta or the eggplant. I'm not a vegetarian but you don't need meat when you eat these dishes. The staff is awesome! Attentive. Friendly and knowledgeable. I love this place!

Not really worthy of 4.5 stars. Yes the owner is nice and cares that you get what you want - I bet he would make you anything you wanted. But there are better Italian restaurants in San Jose. The bread and dipping sauce were good.

Our family has been going to Maurizio's for the last 12+ years. Always a family celebration. We have fond memories of our children sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen 10 years ago grabbing a bite to eat after Karate practice. The chef always made them what they wanted after a long work-out and there was always giggles and happy tummies. We go for lunch and dinner on a regular basis. Always good!

A well rated Italian establishment in quaint downtown Morgan Hill. A small restaurant that has a nice mom and pop ambiance to it. I've come through this place a few times now, with some colleagues from out of town and once for a lunch with my team. I've tried a few different dishes and they've been a bit hit or miss. The linguine with clams was definitely a miss. Overly salty to the point it seems they didn't wash their clams very well, like they were straight from a bag pulled out of the ocean without a wash. Will need to try some of the other Italian places around town.

We went here for a date night and we were impressed on how fast they seated us with a reservation. A lady in front of us did not have. A reservation and was told to return about 2 hours later, so we highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time( at least 2 hours ahead). Food was delicious and very authentic. We have been to Rome and we were impressed with the atmosphere and the authenticity of the food. Really great service, refills on drinks were prompt. The only thing we can say was that the Cannoli we got for dessert was not as expected , it seemed bland compared to the food. Perhaps they specialize in entrees more than desserts. But overall, dinner was pleasant. Skip Dessert, and walk to Candy Shop and grab an official San Fransisco " it's It" ice cream cookie sandwich. Lol

Ate here on a Monday night, 5 of us in our party and the server was gracious enough to allow us all separate checks. The bread was great, served with roasted garlic/olive oil combo. I had the King Salmon-which was wild caught and delicious. Other diners had the special (halibut) which was also very tasty. the beet salad was perfect and generous in size. Overall, the service was great and I will definitely be going back again.

I will give it a 6 star if offered. Oh Maurizio's you have become my new fav resto in town! You've actually taken over my obsession with Odeum.. and that's saying a lot! Kudos to your great server, Eddie. He's a good asset to your restaurant. Please tell him to keep up the good work!

I love this little Italian restaurant nestled in downtown Morgan Hill. The cozy family atmosphere makes you think your in your family's house instead of a restaurant. Everyone is so friendly and the food is made to order and very delicious. I had the tortellini and it was great. Another great item was the garlic spread for the bread I couldn't get enough of that. Make reservations as this place is always full. Can't wait to come back.

Food took a long while to be prepared but was of good quality. Service was attentive and cute. It is a family joint so they had youngsters helped serving the tables and they did a really wonderful job. I only wish I didn't have to wait that long to get my entree otherwise it would have been a more positive experience.

We love this place. Nice small dining room, and quality food! No kid menu, but they were very accommodating in cooking some pasta & Alfredo sauce for my little ones. A little expensive, but it matches the quality of the food.

While visiting in Hollister, CA, & upon the suggestion of our friends, we went to Maurizio's last night with a party of eight (8) & the place was slammed! People waiting outside, standing everywhere, etc. Usually, a good sign because of the local clientele waiting to get a seat. Well, let me tell you...it was worth the drive, the wait, the crowd (which was never uncomfortable or distracting; fun atmosphere actually)!! The food was fabulous! Maria, our server, was spot-on! I had a caesar salad & it was delish (I could have done without the anchovy, but who knew that little feller would be hiding in there. LOL.)! My main dish was one of my absolute favs; chicken fettuccine alfredo & it was some the best I've ever eaten. Sorry, no dessert last night...after the bread & the goat cheese appetizer, there was no room for dessert. However, you must try the goat cheese thing with the bread. FABULOUS...just saying'!! And, with the strawberry preserves (jam, jelly or whatever), even better. YUMMO!! At any rate, it was a fun night with friends, great food & attentive service...& since they picked up the tab, I really couldn't help you with the price thing. Would really recommend this place if you get out to the Bay area (Morgan Hill, CA).

Maurizio's is our favorite Italian restaurant in the South Bay, and our favorite restaurant in Morgan Hill. The food is consistently great and at reasonable prices. The daily specials are particularly good. We recently had a pork brisket with arugella that was amazing. The only thing we wish is that some of the specials would become permantly part of regular menu. However, Maurizio, the owner, is so accommodating that you can order certain dishes that are not on the menu. My personal favorite is a dish named Trastavere (pasta with chicken, spinach, mushrooms in a white sauce).

We have eaten here three times and each time had a wonderful time. Promptly seated, friendly attentive staff, and a great menu to choose from. We met the chef/owner last visit. His passion for food was obvious. He chose daily specials based on the seasonal fresh ingredients available. He even brings in fresh produce from his home garden. They have delightful outdoor seating with umbrellas to protect guests from the sun. Everyone we have gone with has loved it. Our favorite place to dine when we are here visiting.

The food is soooooo good!! Wish they were open on Sundays. We have had all of the salads (yum!), great seafood pasta and delicious tomato cream sauce pasta with prosciutto and cheese. The place is small and a little too loud, but it's cute and the food rocks! The service also beats other Italian establishments nearby.

We went on a Saturday night at 5:30 and it required reservation! The place is super popular. The name of the restaurant is taken after the owner, who looks to be southern Italian. We ordered pasta dishes with meat sauce and white saffron sauce, both were clearly homemade and excellent. The tiramisu was so fresh, it was melt-in-your mouth. Spumoni was just okay though. Appetizer, entrees, drinks and desserts added up to be about $45 per person.

I just experienced this place last night. The BEST Italian food I have EVER had. The BF and I made reservations after visiting their website where they strongly encouraged it, so glad we did because the place was packed! Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgable, the food and wine did not disappoint. Just wonderful!!

Husband and I came here a couple of weeks ago and were seated right away. The place was a little busy (got busier as time went on), but service was quick and attentive. We started off with the calamari appetizer, which was pretty good. I had the cannelloni, which had good flavor, though I wasn't a fan of the texture of the meat that was in the cannelloni. The guy next to me had the rotelle dish, and I was actually jealous of him. Husband had one of the specials (can't recall exactly what it was), but I know that he really enjoyed it. We actually also ordered dessert (rare), he had the spumoni, which he liked. I had the cannoli, which was SO rich, but tasty. We're going to have to come back, definitely. Edit: Came back, got the rotelle, holy shit. So damn good.

Great sit down Italian place in downtown MH. Our server's name was Daniel I believe and was very nice, quick and attentive. Bread brought to us before our meal could have been a bit bigger though. I had the rigatoni pasta and was not disappointed. Was very delicious but I felt like they could have added more actual pasta into the dish. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience trying a new Italian restaurant as Italian is my favorite type of food. Will definitely be back here again if I get the chance.

This place is great! We've been there three times and have started planning our trips to NoCal to include an overnight in Morgan Hill just so we can dine here. The service is wonderful and the carpaccio is the perfect appetizer. Prices are very reasonable. Can't comment on desert because we've always been too full to partake. Highly recommended!

Nice mom and pop Italian place. Food was delicious and portions were more than adequate. I had the tortellini con prosciutto which was incredible, I couldn't stop eating it! Also had the tiramisu which was so good, moist and had a distinctive but not overpowering taste of coffee. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a good Italian place in the South Bay.

So Good! I have finally found an awesome Italian restaurant. The pasta is made fresh and so good. My favorite dishes are the Canneloni di Carne and the Tortellini con Prosciutto. I am very particular about cannoli and haven't found ones that I like, but theirs is delicious. Our waiters have always been super friendly and the staff seems to always be in a good mood and happy to be there. I would recommend reservations since it is a smaller establishment.

Per the hype, I had expected so much more. Obviously long time rooted and has the fan base of long time locals, Mauricio's packs a crowd into it's small dining room. I had a special but asked for pasta instead of the risotto. My other half had a normally listed pasta dish. We ordered a Caesar salad and the daily soup. Lentil w/pancetta. The serving of soup was generous and expected some rustic stand out flavors. It was flavorful. The Caesar was generous and flavorful but usually expect the anchovies to be incorporated into the home made dressing instead of laying dried out across the top of my salad. My daily special dish was appealing to the eye but bitter in some parts. I just wanted a pasta with the regular sauce they had for the special. I did not think it was a big deal but the server seemed to want me to tell them what I wanted in the sauce. A bit lost in translation think as should have been just a pasta instead of risotto. I did not ask them to recreate their daily special wheel. My other half ordered a normally listed item. Canneloni with veal which he was quite content with until.... just one of those faux paux things that happens at times but he was almost done anyway and his bad for not pointing it out regardless. I was a bit shocked for such a reputation online that the cheese was not freshly shaven over your meal but 'sprinkled'. hmmm I almost got the feeling that the jumping staff and generous pours to the locals are what keeps the happiness alive. Hence it was the food we went for and it just fell just a tad below all the online hype that got us here in the first place.

By far the best food ever. We were passing through Morgan Hill on a road trip, and had a craving for Italian food. OMG. The beet salad was out of this world. I had the Rotelle de Parma. The sauce was so good that I could have put it in a glass drunk it. My husband had the veal saltimboca, and it was fab. Makes me want to move to Morgan Hill so I can eat there all the time.

We are updating or review again...again 5 stars. I have been here three times and each time has been an absolutely wonderful experience. Last night we went with no reservation and received a table right away. Our server have us our list of specials and closely attended our needs. Our food was absolutely divine! I typically don't eat Italian food due to the cheeses and pasta but I must say, this restaurant is now my favorite in Morgan Hill. Thank you.

Omg..where do I start? Their bread was perfect.. not too hard and not too soft. Bread that scrapes the roof of my mouth is a no no. Their Spinach Soup...WOW! I've never tasted one so delicious! Their steak was amazing just like their service. The employees were great. The only reason why I give it a 4 star is because they're very small, the restrooms are not hidden in a hallway so when you come out, everyone can see who just came out or going in. Otherwise, love this restaurant!

We stumbled here after a long, long, long day. Did I mention long? We still had a good 2 hour drive ahead of us, but we were parched and starving! We were greeted warmly by a family sitting in a table next to ours. That family turned out to be the owner's family. Such lovely folks! The owner happily came to chat with us and even comped us the most delicious generous bowl of mussels in wine. What a treat, I seriously could not refrain from lapping up that sauce and looking like a dog. Seeing the empty plate go was like breaking up with your high school sweetheart... I wish I lived closer--I would gladly get fat so long as it were by the hands of these plates.

Being generous giving one star. HORRIBLE service, cold, stale food, and was completely ignored by our "waiter" for close to an hour. Best part of the meal was the bread and oil.

Food was okay, service was good, options of what to order were slim. And the prices were HIGH. But it truly was authentic Italian food. Even the beer was Italian! I'm not big on garlic, so to find that they didn't really pile the garlic on was fantastic. The two that I was with absolutely LOVED their dishes. I could hardly drag them away to continue on to our next destination! We sat outside on a beautiful day and the atmosphere was wonderful.

A group of us had a dinner celebration here per recommendations of our South Bay friends; we had a wonderful time. Made an early reservation, upon entering we were warmly greeted by the wait staff and seated promptly. The place is cozy and rustic, filled up quickly. Started with a bunch of appetizers, our favorites were the stuffed eggplant and prosciutto with fresh mozzarella, both were very yummy. Calamari was not bad but I'm not a fan of too much deep fried food, the mussels were however very disappointing.... our two orders added up to no more then 20 over cooked mussels. We also shared one of the daily special (penne with sausage and mussels) which was good but not amazing. The pinot grigio recommend by the waiter complimented the starters quite well. Our main courses were rack of lamb, rib eye steak and the other daily special, filet of sole over pasta. The hefty piece of steak was very good , hubby had no complaint , lamb was a bit overcooked and came in 4 slices not very thick; not super impressive but not bad. The fish pasta was served in very substantial portions, the fettuccine tossed in a spicy red sauce was cooked perfectly topped with multiple pieces of fish. We washed it down with a tasty bottle of Italian red wine. The birthday person was served a complimentary piece of tiramisu, we also had coffee and ice cream which concluded our meal nicely. We consider Maurizio a good find, will be happy to recommend.

It was my second visit here, but first time with my kids. The service is great, waiters very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Bruschetta Appetizer it was ok. This time I enjoyed my food a lot better than the first time, it wasn't as salty I think if you let them know how much salt to add they accommodate you fine. I ordered the Tortellini con Prosciutto, was okay, big portion, I didn't finish it as I got overwhelming with it quite fast. My husband ordered a customized Fettucini Alfredo a la primavera with prawns, he actually enjoyed it. My children ordered a simple spaghetti with marinara meat sauce. Their wine list is great, we ordered a Angel's Touch Cabernet, Santa Cruz Mtns; bottle which was good. I will definitely come back and explore the menu some more it does taste very authentic here.

I can't believe I waited so long to try this place! Had a plan when I got here after looking at the online menu, SEAFOOD. As l sit down, I am treated to some bread and a little ramekin of garlic and olive oil. The garlic is roasted and it spreads onto the bread like butter. A drizzle of the oil makes this the best garlic bread I could ever imagine. Started with the Bruschetta. How something so simple as toast, tomatoes, basil and parm can be made to taste so unbelievably good is beyond me. There's got to be magic involved. I even ate the garnish because I didn't want to miss any of the bits that fell off! Next, Cozze al Vino. Mussels in a rich garlicky white wine sauce. Didn't count them, but there was just enough. A bit smaller than I've had elsewhere, these still had wonderful flavor. The sauce, just make sure you have enough bread to sop up all of it!! WOW! Fettuccine al Pescatore, more mussels, clams, shrimp, and the TINIEST, most tender calamari I have ever had. Perfect aldente pasta. The sauce had a nice spicy bite to it that didn't linger too long. Traditionally you are not supposed to put cheese on seafood. I say heck with that! Go ahead, cheese up!! Tiramisu, wow! Pretty presentation. Just might be the best I've tasted. There is liquor involved and it stands out but not unpleasantly. A rich and wonderful finish to a fine meal. Daniel was very friendly and attentive. He paced the courses perfectly. I could hear him in the background firing each course as l was taking the last few bites. Compliments to the kitchen for really nice presentation on all dishes. Come early for dinner or a reservation is recommended. Now I can't wait to come here for lunch!

Came here for dinner after shopping at gilroy. This place is located in downtown. Luckily I was able to be seated when we got there without a reservation. The place is kind of small but the vibe is nice. I ordered the salmon and it came with potatoes, asparagus, artichoke. It was really good. The service was excellent. Definitely check this place out if you're around.

What a great Italian Restaurant! This is the real deal. After some research on Morgan Hill restaurants (very unfamiliar with the area) I decided to set up an interview for a prospective employee over lunch at Maurizio's. I could not have been more pleased. Upon arrival, it was as if I walked into a restaurant in Italy. They welcomed me a half hour earlier than my reservation and I enjoyed listening to the staff communicate in Italian while I waited. They were attentive in there service but allowed us to sit and meet for well over 2 hours. The food was spectacular! The chef had no problem accommodating my request for a vegetarian option of one of the specials. I had grilled polenta with grilled vegetables with a red sauce that was absolutely divine. I will think of every reason to go back to Morgan Hill and visit Maurizio's.

The roasted garlic / olive oil dip (served with bread) you get when you are seated is effing amazing. The cannelloni is very good. Definitely one of the few good spots to eat at in morgan hill.

Always a fan, however if you want to have your mind blown make sure you go during lunch and have the hand made pasta with pear in it. AMAZING!!!

Went here for date night after having ordered take out and the food was amazing. Hubby had the special rack of lamb and I'm not lying when I say it melted in my mouth. This is our new go to Italian.

We used to go to the old Maurizio's all the time and get pizza which was great. Today we had lunch gnocchi, cannelloni, and chicken pasta. All were great, and well-priced. The service here is super friendly, too!

Wow, probably the best Italian in Morgan Hill. Seafood and salads were very fresh. The calamari and scampi appetizers are fresh. The Cappellini al Gamberi and Bistecca con Spinaci were very solid choices for lunch--and VERY reasonable. Dinner is deservedly pricier, but extremely tasty.

My husband and I made reservation at 7:30 on a Friday since we didn't want to wait in line. It was our first time at the restaurant. We got there five minutes prior to the reservation time and were still waiting to be seated 35 mins later. We left to go to Red Robins instead. Very bad service. Not recommend!

I cannot say enough good things, from start to finish my first visit here yesterday was an absolute delight! Maurizio and all of his staff are genuine, charming, lovely people that want you to have a wonderful meal and a great time while you are with them. We ordered everything family style so that we could all enjoy several different dishes and every single one of the 8-9 items we ordered were perfect. The biggest surprise was when the check arrived and we found that five people feasted on amazing food for less than $80!!! The value is unbelievable, and they could charge significantly more and I am sure the place would still be packed. I look forward to visiting my client in Morgan Hill again very soon so that we can go again!

The food is excellent as was the service... They need a bigger indoor bar where i would spend $ while waiting for a table, 3 seats is way too few! Profits from drinks would pay for the expansion!

My college daughter and I stopped here on our way from moving her out of her dorm and heading home. We yelped, saw the reviews and thought "sounds good!" It was 8:30 and we were a little nervous at how late we were and whether we could walk in (and did I mention we were in jeans, having just moved my daughter out of her dorm?) "Welcome!" said the waiter, "sit, sit anywhere. " He not only took our orders but offered to make any of our usual favorites (chicken parmigiana, spaghetti etc etc. My daughter got into it. They serve their italian bread with a dipping sauce of roasted garlic in olive oil. You can just spread the garlic ymminess on the bread. We were happy. She wanted the bruschetta starter. Fresh tomatoes and basil, on crusty toast. Lovely. We agreed to order different so, frankly she could steal food. I got the Pollo Arosto, grilled chicken in a sun dried tomato and mushroom sauce and roasted squash and potatoes on the side. Wow. My taste buds exploded. Even the veges were roasted perfectly My daughter got the Rigatone with meat sauce. As others have said, perfect balance of sauce to pasta. I stole plenty from her plate. We were both enjoying and eating off eat others plates. My daughter eyed my plate. "Wanna switch?" "You always enjoy that which you can steal from your mom" And with that, plates switched, and we both continued. The house chianti was just right. We were both too full for dessert. I found the atmosphere charming, and the waiters friendly and helpful, and a bit playful. You come for food, but if you don't feel welcomed, you don't come back. We will be back. What a lovely find in Morgan Hill. For us it is a 6 hour drive...but somehow we gotta get back here and bring the rest of the family. Truly a treasure.

Cool old school Italian. My wife got the Rigatoni Ragu but changed to capellini - the ragu was excellent. I got the pork loin special. It was ok, but a bit boring -- needed more sauce. Service was very good.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. Quote by J.R.R. Tolkien That being said, I lost some gold but certainly added cheer and good food to my memories of this life after eating at Maurizio's. I was trying to find a reservation for a good Morgan Hill restaurant this evening, and had absolutely no luck. After being rejected by The Good Fork and Ladera Grill, we drove past Maurizio's and decided to call them to see if they could seat 6 immediately. To my utter delight, I was told to come in right away and they could seat us. I was beyond delighted. We arrive, seated right away and Maria, our waitress, promptly tended to our needs. A basket of bread is brought to the table with a roasted olive oil dipping mix. The garlic is perfectly roasted; very smooth and mellow, submerged in a good quality olive oil to dip the bread in. We ordered the calamari fritti, and the Burrata con Prosciutto. Both were very well prepared. The calamari comes with two sauces, one sweet basil and one a spicy tomato sauce, perfectly prepared. My dear daughter ordered the Bordetto di Crostacei, mussels and clams in a garlic, white wine and lemon broth for her entree, and it was well seasoned and thoroughly enjoyable. Our guests had the special spaghetti and meatballs and the Fettucini al Pescatore, both of which got a big thumbs up. The cannelloni al forno was well prepared and got a rave review too. I had the special blue nosed sea bass with cherry tomatoes, pea tendrils and resting on a mushroom risotto. The vegetable was fresh green beans prepared with shallots, and was cooked perfectly, not mushy, but bright green and so flavorful. As full as we all were, we did share spumoni, the perfect ending to this classic, thoroughly appreciated, Italian meal. We ordered a bottle of the Clos la Chance (from the winery that Sidney S. has an especially warm and fuzzy relationship with) Zinfandel, which is fair to middling. Drinkable though. I live on the same road as Clos La Chance, so maybe I feel a little tug of the heart-string when I see their wine on the list. I really appreciated the competent service. Maria didn't hover, but always saw to our needs.

Holy smokes. There's something about an Italian restaurant with Italian waiters...especially when it's randomly located in Morgan Hill. We decided to go out last minute on a Saturday night, and NO ONE would give us a table. We walked into Maurizio's and they were adamant about getting us in. We said we'd sit outside which actually turned out to be very nice. My husband had the special- spaghetti and meatballs... it looked gorgeous. You can't go wrong with homemade pasta. The meatballs were huge, and the bite I was able to grab off his plate was heavenly. I had the veal, and it had perfect flavor of melted cheese and marsala wine. Calamari is also very tasty, and they have great sauces with two large shrimp on top to make it special. Even one of our friends who doesn't like calamari had a few. I also loved the bruschetta special which came with prosciutto, beautiful buffalo mozzarella, and a nice green salad. I don't think I could go to another Italian restaurant ever again. The service was top of the line as well. We will be back in the near future.

Just moved to the area, and visited Maurizio's! Did not even look at the menu, the specials just sounded so good, we had them. The bread with the buttery soft roasted garlic, is heavenly. Love the ambiance, the service, and the food was great. They will most definitely see me often!

finally had a chance to take the family to Maurizio's. The staff was very friendly and the owner (there's actually a Maurizio) checked in on us frequently. They customized a dish for my wife and I ordered the gnocchi and they all came out delicious. The bread appetizer is really good as well. From start to finish everything was great. Definitely going back to try something different.

This place is great. Friendly staff and quaint. You can sit inside or outside which is a fun option. The food is absolutely delicious. If you don't see what you want on the menu, just ask. Many times they will accommodate you and make what you want. This place has a small town feel which I love. The prices are reasonable. Try the eggplant appetizer. Delicious. Also, the Chicken Marsala (which you can ask for if you don't see on the menu). Maurizio and Sara (his wife) are great people and if they are working, always make you feel welcome!

After a long day of fixing up a new property my parents bought in Morgan Hill, none of us were willing to wait for dinner, so we decided to eat at Maurizio's, a cute and quaint little Italian place located in the downtown. FOOD: I tend to find Italian food over-seasoned and unfortunately Maurizio's is no exception. I ordered the Canneloni, but ended up switching with my dad for his Tortellini Con Prosciutto, which I found a good deal milder and therefore more bearable. We also ordered the fried calamari, which tasted very fresh but wasn't very crunchy - nothing remarkable. Hands down the best part of the meal was the complementary bread, which came with a delicious roasted garlic-infused oil. My mouth waters just thinking about it. The bread is fluffy and warm, and the roasted garlic is soft enough to mash and scoop up and om nom nom nom.... AMBIANCE: Maurizio's is a small place. For groups larger than 4 the staff brings out a large wooden board and a table cloth to extend the tables. It's a cozy, warm, atmosphere and it manages to pull off the rustic look without seeming shabby. Classy but friendly. SERVICE: There seemed to be only one waiter while my family was there, which seemed strange to me since it was a Saturday night. The waiter had the added disadvantage of being a pretty inefficient guy (i.e. he would run to the kitchen for the drinks, bring them to our table at the far end of the restaurant, then run back to the kitchen for the bread). Still, we didn't wait long for our food or drinks and even though there was a bit of a communication barrier the waiter was friendly and attentive. tl;dr food is not extraordinary but it's good, cute place for a date night, if you bring me the bread and roasted garlic infused oil I will love you forever

Been here at least 3x in the last year. The restaurant is small and quaint. The food is excellent and very authentic. I have tried most of their dishes (shared dishes with friends) and if I had to pick one item that was outstanding , it would be their Salmon. It was the best Salmon that I have had in a very very long time.

WHAT A GEM! We found Maurizio's last night using Yelp, as we are not familiar with Morgan Hill. The food was simply fantastic! We started with their soup of the day, Roasted Zucchini. Their delicious fresh bread was served with Roasted Garlic Olive Oil. My wife had the Mesquite Grilled Salmon dish with Polenta (Gluten Free), and I had the Veal-Stuffed Cannelloni (I highly recommend it). We finished by sharing an Espresso Creme Brulee. The pasta was handmade, and everything was perfectly seasoned and flavored. Eddy, our waiter, gave us doting service. After all this, our check was just $58! We really loved this place, and will DEFINITELY be back. [To previous 2-star reviewer 'Kathleen A': Tomato Pasta Sauces that contain cream are SUPPOSED to have an orange color, and I thought that same sauce was rich and delicious.]

Located just off the quaint little downtown area, Maurizio's features an enticing menu of authentic Italian dishes with warm, rustic decor and a hole-in-the-wall vibe. Shortly after we were seated, our friendly server Daniel brought us delicious fresh baked bread accompanied by roasted garlic in olive oil to nosh on. The bread was warm and fluffy and the roasted garlic reminded us of a bagna cauda. A wonderful start to our meal! Martin selected the Fish of the Day - seared scallops served over a bed of mushroom risotto. The scallops were pan seared and then finished in the oven, yielding a beautiful caramelized crust and a pale opaque center. The risotto was good and hearty and I liked how the parmesan did not overpower the mushrooms. I chose the Orecchiette alla Pugliese -- "ear" shaped pasta with Italian sausage, broccoli rabe, and fresh tomato. The broccoli rabe with its bitterness contrasted nicely with the sweet ripe tomatoes and caramelized onions. The Italian sausage is juicy and so flavorful! It is not made in-house, but it is sourced from a local meat shop / sausage maker by Maurizio himself. (By the way, someone at the restaurant may want to proofread some of the menu descriptions for interesting spelling mistakes....) For dessert, we snagged one of the last slices of the popular tiramisu, we were surprised to learn that they do not soak the lady fingers in a rum-espresso mixture but rather a non-alcoholic rum extract of sorts to make it kid-friendly. The marscapone had a bit of heavy cream whipped in for added fluffiness and it was delicate and not too sweet, just the way I like it. The perfect way to end the meal! Daniel was so nice to answer our many questions. He proudly mentioned that Chef Maurizio comes in every day during prep to taste the components of each dish and to demonstrate plating. The papparadelle and the fettuccine are both made in-house. Even though the orecchiette and sausage in my dish were made elsewhere, Daniel reassured me that Maurizio is a discerning chef who only chooses the best for his restaurant, and you can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients in the dishes served here! Thanks, fellow Yelpers! We wouldn't have found this place without the app and all these glowing reviews! :)

Their gnocchi is fabulous. I love Maurizio's sauces as well. His gorgonzola cream sauce is unbelievably rich and delicious (and I'm sure disgustingly fattening, but worth it). The bread and dipping sauce is terrific with the roasted garlic. Love his wine list, all the food and even the service. My only complaint is it's too small and the tables are too close together.

This is a place for an exceptional meal, every time. I have dined here 10-12 times and have yet to be served anything that was not prepared with expertise and care. What a great place for authentic Italian food. Do not hesitate to visit this fine restaurant.

The trouble with eating Italian food is that five or six days later you're hungry again -- George Miller Maurizio Cutrignelli is a well-known and respected local chef, classically trained in Italy, whose eponymous neighborhood Italian restaurant in Downtown Morgan Hill is an area favorite. While I prefer his new restaurant The Good Fork, the caring and emphasis on service at Maurizio's makes this a worthy lunch option even if the food is not exactly cutting edge. I have ate here for both lunch and dinner and definitely prefer the lower prices at lunch. The pastas especially are just not that compelling to pay the steeper night-time fare. In fact, the emphasis on quality ingredients at The Good Fork does not appear to be a reality at Maurizio's. The bread is not as good and the accompanying Parmesan cheese appears to be of the green can variety. The pastas are rather basic however maybe the specials are what should be eaten here. But I sense it is not really the food that makes this place popular. What really makes this restaurant is the outstanding service. If you have read my back and forth with the Clos LaChance folks, you know that some people put the emphasis on appearance and marketing rather than the product or service they are trying to sell you. Maurizio's on the other hand, puts the emphasis on the service. His people really do care and they make the experience so much better. And again, my critique of the food is just one person's opinion. The aggregate rating is still above 4 stars here so your mileage may vary. I guess I just prefer The Good Fork more where the outstanding service is also paired with more innovative food. The wine list at Maurizio's is a mix of Local wineries, Italian wines and the California chestnuts that a certain clientele demands. I like several aspects of his wine program here. First, the Quartino's they offer (1/4 liter) in addition to single glasses is perfect for those times you want more than one glass but really do not want two. Furthermore, his pricing is excellent. The Solis Fiano that I enjoyed, has a bottle price of $27 on Maurizio's list; I bought a bottle of it at the winery (because I enjoyed it) at a discount for $24 but they have it listed for $30! So again, this is a solid choice and dear reader I would not be surprised if you even like it better than my three stars. For service and the wine, I recommend a visit :)

My experience at Maurizio's was nothing but a positive one! Definitely one of my favorite local Italian places. Every time I go I always request the same thing; Chicken Parmesan. Although they don't have this item on the menu, they always will make it for me if I ask. Excellent customer service overall. The only downfall is that it can tend to get a little overcrowded but they try to accompany everyone that comes in.

Going to Maurizio's for the first time was a pleasant experience. It is a small place so it is best to make reservations. The environment is intimate, with dimmed lighting perfect for a romantic evening or for a gathering of close friends over a nice glass of wine and delicious Italian food. (They have a nice list of Italian wines!) I ordered the special of the night, which was sea bass in a piccata-style sauce served over a bed of spinach and mushroom risotto. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the risotto was nice and buttery. The spinach was a little too lemony for my taste, but everything else was great! The portions are a good size and prices are reasonable. They also had excellent service! If you're in the area and want good Italian food, this is a great place to go!

I had a lunch meeting here a few days ago and I selected this place because it had a good Yelp review. The place was a little hard to find because it was set back from the main street. We eventually found it but it was still tuff as we used out AT&T Navigator GPS on the cell phone. We were greeted with friendly service and there was one person taking orders which may have been the owner. They did forget my iced tea, but after I gave them a reminder, they brought it out to me. For lunch I was planning on having a small salad and a pasta dish from the back of the menu. The prices seemed really reasonable. As our waiter happily gave us the specials, I couldn't resist trying the salmon special he suggested over a bed of lettuce. So to my though, even better, I get salmon and a salad. I was very happy with the lunch. I'll say the coffee I had for dessert there was a little weak though.

Amazing little restaurant, I had tye ribeye steak with some fresh sautéed garlic addded on top and this was one of the best steaks I have ever had by far better than any of your chain steak houses. You definitely have to try this restaurant as others have said it is very small so make sure you call ahead or prepare to wait.

Pros: nice spinach salad and Caesar salad. The complimentary bread with the garlic infused oil was very good. Our waiter was very attentive. Cons: not worth a $100 for two. Bruschetta Appetizer (just okay), 2 salads, two pasta dishes and 1 glass of wine. Both of our dishes had the same orange sauce. Watching other patrons meals go by, it appeared that most dishes have the same orange sauce, which was a bit bland. It reminded me of the sauce that is in spaghetti o's. My rotelle pasta was so cheesy it was over the top, way too much cheese and I love cheese. Overall: just okay

I am not a huge fan of Italian food but I absolutely love Maurizio's. This place is really popular so reservations might be necessary since the dining area is not the biggest but it adds to the cozy dining experience. We came here before 6pm on a Saturday night and they were pretty packed. They have a great wine list with inexpensive to super expensive options for a bottle which is nice since they have something in everyone's price range. And, the food is delicious. My favorite is the bread that they serve with garlic olive oil. The garlic cloves in the oil is super delicious and flavorful. And, all of the pasta dishes they serve are very fresh with quality ingredients. My girlfriend had a striped bass dinner special on one of the visits and that was really fresh and good. Overall, I have not had a bad meal here and the server's are the most friendly people ever. And, don't skip dessert. The tiramisu is the best!

As people have stated in several reviews on this place; this place deserves way more than 5 stars! I came to Morgan Hill for work and my wife joined me on her day off. So we consulted yelp on the best choice of restaurants in Morgan Hill. My wife saw all the great reviews and we decided to go. We went on a Monday night and someone had said on Yelp that reservations were required. We called ahead and they said none were required that day. We came in asap after that. When we entered we were seated promptly. Everything on the menu sounded mouthwatering! When our waitress came we asked why there was not that many people and we had read it's a pretty busy place. She said that the day after a holiday (Easter in our case) it's always slow. My wife ordered the salad with cranberries and blue cheese. Can't recall what it was called, but it looked beautiful and was equally tasty. I ordered the fish of the day which was swordfish. My wife ordered the steak with truffle oil. It was so delicious and very large. There were several birthdays and they came out with a dessert and the waiters would sing happy birthday with enthusiasm. I can not overstate enough how warm the employees are!!! They are so attentive and our drinks were always full. Mr. Maurizio should be VERY proud of the staff for what great customer service and food they provide! They very obviously take pride in their work!

This review is so over due! Very nice place! Cute, warm and welcoming! The food was mostly a hit with some misses. The bread was a bit under baked and slightly doughy.. But was definitely fresh. The olive oil for the dipping was just a miss and had no flavor in it. The cheese and prosciutto was very good as well as the following salads. The pasta that I ordered was very well prepared. But the other guest's pasta (with sea food) was a bit of a miss, the sauce tasted like it came from a can and just blah dish tasted not bad but was missing some flavors... I apologize, I do not remember the names of the dishes because it was a while ago since I visited the restaurant. But I did take pictures!

This is my new favorite Italian restaurant and I'm lucky that I live so close. The ambiance in comfortable and intimate. The service is outstanding and the food is delicious. We went for my birthday and they turned down the lights to present me with a cannoli with a candle on top. I had never been there before so it wasn't because I was a VIP but they made me feel like one. Thank you.

We were very impressed with our dinners at Maurizio's. We visited twice in 8 days to/from the SFO airport. The food was delicious and authentic both times. The service was friendly; outstanding in knowledge and very accommodating. For an authentic Italian restaurant, I don't require perfect ambiance; I need great food and friendly service and that's what you get here.

Real let down, every time we needed something we had to flag down the wait staff and with the waitstaff talking to the cooks across the room in Spanish it felt more like taqueria. The eggplant appetizer was good, but the rest of our meal was pretty bad.

Food: 4 Decor: 3 Service: 2 Came here with my brother for a weekday lunch. 1. Scampi di Gamberi Sautéed shrimp, butter, capers, lemon, parsley, crostini 8 ~Pretty good. Shrimp was cooked nicely, and the other ingredients all came out strong. 2. Cavatappi Con Salsiccia Penne pasta, Italian sausage, mushrooms, spicy tomato sauce 12 ~Pretty good. Pasta was cooked a nice al dente, and the remaining ingredients were good. Sausage might have cooked a few seconds longer since they were a bit pink in the middle. 3. Pesto rigatoni with chicken, mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes special, 12 ~Pretty good. Tastes just as you'd imagine. Service was rather disappointing. Pacing for our shrimp scampi was awkward since they didn't bring out the crostinis until a few minutes after the shrimp came out. My tablecloth was also dirty, and I had to request twice to have it replaced. It was nice that they kept on bringing hot bread out though, although I could have used a bit more olive oil.

Cute small restaurant. We came here for dinner around 5:30. It wasn't packed when we arrived, but as soon as it reached 6:00, the place filled up really fast. Yummy free bread and dip. Food: My cheese tortellini with mushroom, spinach, and prosciutto was delicious! The pasta with sausages, spinach, and tomato was also good. Dessert: We had 2 desserts. Spumoni gelato and this half vanilla and chocolate gelato with hard chocolate shell cover. I liked the vanilla and chocolate gelato with the hard chocolate shell. Drinks: My prosecco was nice and the sauvignon blanc that was recommended to me was good. Service was very good. Our waitress was attentive most of the time. She even gave me a tasting of a wine when I asked for recommendation. It wasn't even like a small tasting, it was like 1/4 of the glass! I was surprised. Price was ok. The only complain I would have is the wait for our pasta entrees. It took like 25 mins to arrive. If i was starving, i would have died =P But good thing there was free bread and oil dip to hold me over and my glass of prosecco. Although, my glass was already empty by the time my pasta was placed in front of me.

We were in Morgan Hill for a soccer tournament, needed a quick but good meal. We called on our way over, they held a table for us, sat us right away. The food was very good, the service and atmosphere warm and inviting. We'll be back for sure!

I just paid $32.00 for a Ribeye Steak....AND GLAD I DID!!! One of the best pieces of meat I've had in a restaurant.......16oz of tender flavor...medium well, to perfection :-) The service was there to match...on top of you from entrance to exit. I would have given the full 5 star rating if the sides, with the steak, were a little better...bland potatoes and the usual veggie blend..should be more creative for a steak like that......like dating a super model & dressing for an oil change :-) I highly recommended this place even tho the seating is a little close...I'm just not that "cozy" a guy :-)

We were looking for a place to eat in Morgan Hill and my friend loves Italian food. I went ahead and searched yelp and this place came up. After reading all the positive reviews, our decision was set. When we walked in, I was immediately surprised by how small the place was. But what it lacked in size was made up for by the ambiance. The place looked classy, and while the tables were really close together, there was still ample room to get around and have a conversation without having to yell across the table. (Unlike Sushi Maru in Japantown where you literally have to yell just to be heard!!) We had the Calamari Fritti for an appetizer and one thing that made this different was that it had 2 sauces instead of one. They had a sweet sauce and the regular marinara/tomato based sauce for dipping. I wasn't too fond of the sweet sauce but tried it anyways. They also had deep friend lemon slices in there which I don't think were meant for eating, but my curiosity got the best of me, and I took a bite. Yes, it tasted a little bitter since all I got was the thick skin of the lemon. The star of the night was the entree I picked out-- the Rotelle di Parma: Fresh rolled pasta, mortadella, parmesan, mozzarella, basil, tomato cream sauce. This was absolutely delicious. It literally looked like cheese pinwheels covered in orange cream sauce, but this was so good. It was $17 for this plate and I do think it was on the pricey side, especially since you only get 4 of these pinwheels, but I can't complain since it was really good. One last thing-- the service was great. Our waiter was completely attentive, friendly and felt like he enjoyed serving us.

Maurizio's used to be great 10 years ago, but I went back recently and was incredibly disappointed. Maybe my tastes have change, but I don't think so. First of all, when you walk in, the place smells weird. The service was very good, but the food was mediocre at best. We ordered an antipasti, salads, pasta, and main entrees, but decided the food wasn't good enough to test the dessert too. I should have stayed home and made the meal myself. Everything was over-salted, a sad way to try to compensate for lack of flavor. Not only was the food not so great, but my goodness was it expensive. I have eaten at much better restaurants for less and we only two glasses of wine on our bill.

Good Lord this place is good! Real italian at its finest and one of Morgan Hills best secrets. The reatuarnt is a gem - quaint and cozy. The owners own the Good Fork as well located in downtown Morgan Hill. Perfect serving sizes, very tasty food, good wines and pleasant ambiance.

Excellent food, service and ambiance. The Rotelle is my favorite! The place is usually busy on weekends so if you can call ahead if u are Coming from far away. I've been eating here for years and it's the best Italian food in the bay area. They also have excellent sea food dishes :)

I love Maurizio's. It's cozy and everyone is friendly and the food is solid. Our favorites: The fried calamari - They throw in a couple of fried shrimp; the sauces and the fried lemon make this appetizer our favorite. For entrees: The pasta with bolognese or ragu is delicious. It tastes like something an Italian grandma would feed her family. If the meatballs are on the menu, make sure to order it -- they are the best. My hubby and I always order the steak from the entree menu with the polenta with Gorgonzola sauce from the appetizer menu. This is the BEST combination ever. We love this so much, we have to have it at least once or twice a month. The steak is always perfectly cooked and the polenta with the cheese sauce and mushrooms is to die for. Anything with the puttanesca sauce (especially the fresh fish) is always delicious. And the chicken Marsala is also very good. For dessert: The bread pudding is excellent as well as the lemon sorbet pie (my son's favorite). It's hard to have a bad meal here. Everything is good and the service is EXCELLENT.

I am surprised I haven't written a review for Maurizio's yet. I am a big fan of Maurizio, because he is the creator behind one of my favorite restaurants, The Good Fork. So of course I had to try out the original. The food at Maurizio's is classic Italian/Italian-American and it's delicious. It's not as innovative as The Good Fork, but it doesn't have to be. The service is always really friendly and they introduced me to Guigliamo wine. The prices are a little high but not terrible.

Fantastic! Small environment, with tables that are a little bit close together, but the food and service definitely makes up for it. Some of their salads are especially incredible. I've never had a bad entree at Maurizios, but they pale in comparison to the Burrata salad. If you've never had burrata, it's amazing. The salad has burrata, greens with an amazing dressing, roasted tomatoes, and crostini. Do it.

Always five stars from me! I love this restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, great service and fresh food make for the winning combo here. I love starting with a glass of Prosecco to accompany the complimentary hot bread and garlic dipping oil. Then, bruschetta, spinach salad and carpaccio round out the dinner for me. Sometimes my husband will order a pasta dish, especially if the special is spaghetti and meatballs. The food is consistently good and we always know that we can expect a delicious meal. We don't eat out often, but when we do, we love coming to Maurizio's.

Went for dinner with my wife and had a good time. The service was excellent, they had a decent wine list but I would have liked to see more local wines by the glass. The food was excellent. Very flavorful and well presented. I especially loved the roasted garlic you get to spread on your bread. Make sure you have a reservation, it is a small place and gets busy.

We went here for my mom's birthday last Friday and it was phenomenal! It's a small restaurant so you have the intimate feel, and can actually talk to your server instead of them rushing off to get the next table. They have wine in two options, glass or quartino (1 1/2 glases), the wine list is extensive. The food menu has so many delicious sounding items, it was hard to pick one. I had the cheese tortellini with proscuitto, spinach and cream sauce and it was so good! It was even good the next day since I couldn't finish it. We also ordered the polenta as an appetizer and it was so smooth, and creamy! They put a sauce on it, I can't remember what it was, but it was very tasty. They brought out tiramisu as a gift to my mom and it was light and fluffy. I don't usually like tiramisu but I like to try everthing that comes out and I was pleasantly suprised with this one. I ordered a canoli as well and that was the best canoli I have ever had. We all decided we will definitly be back again!

Nice little italian rest. in downtown Morgan Hill. My favorite part of my meal was the bread that came before the main entree. They cut up the french bread and bring it out with a mix of olive oil infused with roasted garlic. However, the garlic is still in whole cloves so you're able to spread this concoction on your bread and OMG.... it's oooohh sooooo delicious!! We had the Fettucini pasta, clams, calamari, mussels, shrimp, w/ spicy tomato sauce. Tastes pretty good, especially since it's the perfect portion! The Smoked (bbq) salmon salad with sun dried tomatoes were also pretty good! There's actually nothing bad I could even think to say about this restaurant, except for the lack of parking around the area.

Had dinner there last week. My kids ordered a simple pasta dish alfredo sauce, I ordered the veal in a butter sauce with their home made pasta on the side with a meat sauce, and my wife ordered the fish. All the food was amazing and the service was excellent. Will definitely go back.. can't wait. Recommendation: Definitely go with their home made pastas or raviolis. They are amazing. The pasta meat sauce was fab!

Was bachelor for weekend and was on the prowl for a steak (that I didn't have to cook...too tired for that). Ladera porterhouse is my normal go to. Thought I would check out the new Noah's but walked in and it seemed loud and the crowd wasn't what I was looking for this night (either coupled or looking to get coupled). So I figured why not try Maurizio's steak, I've had everything else but. Was seated facing the kitchen next to his father-in-law...we talked, had some wine and listened to a proud grandpa gloat about his adorable grandson. Ordered my meal from said grandson (host in training), he was a great host! The steak was amazing! Cooked perfectly medium-rare. I preferred the rib-eye here to my favorite cut (Porterhouse) at Ladera. Fantastic! This place only gets better for me.

Came here for a little company party last night and everything...I mean EVERYTHING was superb from the food down to the service. Our glasses were never without champagne, wine or water. One of the 6 (7?) courses we had included an authentic Italian dish I've heard of but have never seen offered at any place I've been to: fiocchi w/gorgonzola and caramelized pears. Omg it was sooo good! I could've had all courses of just this. The eggplant w/marscapone was pretty awesome as well. All the sauces complimented every dish, wasn't heavy... yet very fulfilling. Oh!! The calamari - wow - is all I have to say about that. Will most definitely be back to this place to try all the other dishes.

A FANTASTIC DINNING EXPERIENCE! I made reservations to celebrate my Mother's birthday and dropped off a cake the night before. Walking into the restaurant I was surprised by the simplicity and home like kitchen decor. I felt like I was walking into Grandma Fassero's kitchen for dinner. To say the least I was very excited to bring Mom back the next day for her dinner. When we arrived we were seated immediately and everyone we encountered was very nice, we started out with their special salad of the evening (a light fare with roasted peppers) it was wonderful, full of flavor. We were able to find a nice wine on the menu, which for a small place was impressive. Mom ordered the Cannelloni, which was lighter than expected. Cooked to perfection and the sauce was spectacular. Two of our guests had the Fettuccini al Pescatore, I cannot tell you how the food was since they were not inclined to share, and cleaned their plates completely. LOL The love of my life had the special Pork tenderloins, which were tender and juicy (which anyone who has cooked or ordered pork before know how hard it is to get it right) Very nice blend of flavors. I had the salmone Alla Griglia, I had them add some truffle butter to the salmon, which was wonderful. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the polenta melted in your mouth! When we were done with the meal the staff brought out Mom's cake which we got from (Sweet Tooth Confections, I will be doing that review next) and the Champagne that we had bought that day while wine tasting (Guglielmo's Almond) The staff sang happy birthday to mom and the whole restaurant joined in. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to going back there soon.

This is just good solid, southern Italian style.. Let Maurizio choose for you and give general guidelines.. There are a ton of off menu items if you tell him what you like. If you're a control freak or your date is.. I'd go somewhere else as you won't enjoy the full experience..

Once again we were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality of Maurizio. We came to celebrate my son's 8th grade graduation and as soon as we sat down Maurizio sent my son a small plate of pasta to honor his graduations. My son was starving after the long practice and ceremony and this was perfect timing. It is rare for a restaurant and it's owner to take such an interest in it's customers. We are lifetime customers!

Absolutely fabulous!! Have spent several weeks in Italy and this place brought back many fond memories. The service was great the food was phenomenal...fresh, well-made, and tasty. Will definitely come back.....all four of us ordered a different entree (sea bass special was as good as anything we've gotten at McCormick & Schmicks) and all were excellent. We all agreed that this was worth many repeat visits!

**B+ AUTHENTIC ITALIAN FOOD IN MORGAN HILL** My all-time fave Italian restaurant in the South Bay will ALWAYS be Sicilia In Bocca. But I wanted to give Maurizio's a chance. Reservations recommended; especially on weekends. Came here with a couple and we ordered our own entrees. Roasted garlic with bread was a nice touch. I had the following: * Insalata tre colori ($7) - Endive, arugula, radicchio, pears, candied walnuts, gorgonzola cheese, red wine vinaigrette ($7) did not taste fresh; the greens tasted packaged. I was disappointed in the quality of the ingredients. * Ossobucco alla Milanese ($25) - Veal shank braised with celery, onions and carrots in red wine sauce, served with saffron risotto was their #1 top seller. After taking the first bite, it was somewhat bland. Granted, the meat was very tender, but the taste did not wow me. * Coppa Catalana ($6) - Creamy custard topped with carmelized sugar and presented in a glass cup was KILLER. My favorite part of the night was this wonderful dessert. A must order all the way. Also had the Donna Laura Bramosia Chianti Classico 2007 ($36) which was a fantastic pairing with the ossobucco. Ambiance was OK. It was rather small and very loud. Not ideal for a romantic dinner. Verdict-wise: It was all about Sicilia In Bocca for me. However, Maurizio's wasn't bad, just wasn't wowsers.

There are no words to describe how amazing this place is. My family and I have been going back to this restaurant for over a year now. The food is absolutely spectacular! The bread and the garlic that they serve are heavenly. The pasta is outstanding and the desserts, especially the bread pudding rocks! The overall service from the waiters, especially Maria, cannot be beat. Congrats on an awesome restaurant.

Popular, crowded, and a bit noisy, but we had heard great things and had to give it a try shortly after moving to Morgan Hill. All the dishes we saw parade past us as we waited by the kitchen for our table looked fantastic. Service was good and friendly (not stellar, but perfectly fine). Our table ordered Tortellini con Prosciutto (very good), Pollo Arrosto (great flavor, but mine was just a little dry), and a special steak (good, but not superb). So, while our dishes were not perfect, they were pretty good, and the other dishes looked delectable, so we're looking forward to a return visit soon. Environment: 3 Service: 4 Food: 3.5 (with potential for more)

Yes, I am definitely a fan of the food at Maurizio's! Thank you yelpers for telling us to make reservations beforehand! However, when I called to make a reservation a week prior to the date, I was put on hold for a whopping ten minutes. I was very unhappy by the 10th minute so I decided to hang up and call back. When I was greeted on the phone the second time, by the same woman, I let her know how long I was waiting and she was quick to defend herself by making an excuse up, saying she was really busy and couldn't get to me. Although I do understand being busy, it is not okay to leave a potential customer on hold for ten minutes. We found parking right out front. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and seated fairly quickly. There's seating inside and outside (heated) and it was really quite small. Our waitress was nice but she kept pushing us to order soup/salad when we told her "no, thank you" several times. For an appetizer, we decided to go with the calamari. I was surprised to see how lightly battered it was, it was truly delightful! As an entree, we decided to split the cavatappi con salscicia, which consisted of penne pasta, sausage, bell peppers, & mushrooms in this really light spicy tomato sauce. The bell peppers were so crisp! Overall, the pasta was superb! If I could rate Maurizio's based on the food alone, it would be 5 stars. However, a dining experience also includes service. I felt that we weren't being treated the same as other patrons. Our water was refilled once towards the beginning of our meal but during, we were not checked on. As my water was dwindling, I saw a waiter go by TWICE refilling other patrons' waters and not mine. Our waitress did not check on us until we finished our entree and asked for the check. I hate to say this but looking around, we were the only Asian diners. Now I don't want to jump to any conclusions but it was awfully suspicious.. Maurizio's has wonderful food and a seemingly warm staff but it's a shame that we weren't treated the same as other patrons. I wish I could say I'd be back but I was pretty offended with the way we were treated. I guess if I'm ever in the area, I'd give this place another shot.

I hated Italian food before I moved to California. Now I won't eat Italian anywhere else because it's simply Maurizio's that out-dishes any other Italian restaurant. They use the absolute best ingredients and have the best chefs. In the past I have complained about the service and one of the servers, but even he is now excellent. Anytime I have an excuse to go down to Gilroy, I stop by here on the way back. Excellent: garlic oil, bread, wine, meyer lemons, steaks, fresh made pastas, seafood in the pasta dishes, SAUCES, bruchetta, calamari, salad, iced tea, teas Not worth getting: the pastas that aren't made there (there are a few) It is also perfectly priced (not an enormous rip-off like most Italian restaurants). It can get a loud at nights (presumably the Italian patrons?).

Cheese tortellini was hearty and very saucy. I don't like pork in general but the one paired with gnocchi was melty-soft. I had to ask another server for a refill of my water glass. I liked the salty roasted garlic but filled up on so much bread I skipped ordering an appetizer. The garlic should be soft enough to smush into the bread but it wasn't. I would have gone for Italian in Gilroy just because of the smell of garlic but this looked like a better choice. The other diners were families or loud groups. The pasta was great but one whole plate would have been boring so we used our bread dishes to share portions. The special was some salmon dish. The waiter assured us that there was spumoni before we ordered our entrees but when we asked for the dessert menu he came back with the check. He didn't check on us after grating cheese on our dishes. I was disappointed. I would probably try some other place in the same city instead. We didn't have reservations and parked in the lot across the street on a weeknight. We were the only Asian diners.

Boy, am I a lucky girl! The day after I had lunch at Maurizo's, they catered my company holiday party! I was so excited when I found out! I loved the italian salad with goat cheese & balsamic vinaigrett, the penne pasta in tomato sauce, the lasagna, the dough thing wrapped in cheese, & the chicken in creamy sauce!!!! I ate twice that night AND brought food home! favorite italian place so far in morgan hill & possibly close to my favorite in San Jose!

The service was great but the waiter didn't write down who ordered what, so when the food came we had to raise our hand to indicate a certain dish was ours. This wasn't so easy as we had a party of 10. The soup was amazing - or so my dining partner said. It looked great. They didn't really seem all that willing to work with me, (even though this was mentioned when we made reservations) so I would hesitate to recommend anyone with celiac or a gluten issue frequent this restaurant. The eggplant appetizer was fantastic. I ordered it for dinner, and very much enjoyed it. Would I go again? Probably, but only if my dinner partner wanted to go. I'd much rather go somewhere that understand gluten free and has options for such.

I had been wanting to visit Maurizio's since moving to MH last year but just never had the chance. I had heard many great things about the food, the atmosphere and the service. We finally went when my parents visited here in August and I'm so happy that we did. The restaurant is pretty small, but inviting and cozy. We chose to enjoy our meal outside on the patio and that was nice as well. The food was really tasty, the prices seemed fair for the amount of food served and our server was great (I wish I remembered his name!) the wait was not long at all, we were seated right away. We all really enjoyed our experience here, and will be back again...there is so much more on the menu that I need to try ;)

She wanted Italian, I wanted a steak. She won and we went to Maurizio's. I haven't ordered a steak in any restaurant other than in a steak house in a long time because I was always disappointed when I did. I took a chance that night and I am so glad I did, the Rib-eye was one of the best I've had.

Created my Yelp account JUST to review this place! Great to find a somewhere that "exceeds expectations"! Let's face it - a restaurant can't last long these days unless the food is at least good, better still if it's great. But a place that goes "beyond" your expectations is truly a business that deserves (and EARNS) our patronage. Our waitress did a very good job. Prompt and thinking ahead when needed. All the staff we had contact with were very pleasant and helpful. Food was all nicely presented and the establishment was clean, though a bit crowded (limited floor space). Out of maybe 22 tables, perhaps the 2 or 3 near the door were not ideal, but otherwise, the layout was fine. Cozy might be a fair description. The food varied between very good (sausage pasta) to GREAT (polenta and mushroom side, spinach soup, salmon, etc.), but that's NOT the "above and beyond" part. If it was just the above stuff, they would be worth going back to, but nothing noteworthy. The exceptional part to me was: #1 - We arrived for our Friday 6:30pm reservations on time, but had to wait (not their fault, they have to guess at timing, as long as it's not too long, right?) BUT - the four of us were offered free wine while waited. With a refill after only 10 or 15 minutes (which was right before we were seated). Classy and considerate! #2 - During our meal I overheard the waitress tell the table behind us that the beer one of them had ordered was all warm. She was "flash cooling" it right now, but offered him another brand of beer FREE while he waited for that one. Very classy and very considerate even though it wasn't us. #3 - It was GREAT to see local wineries on the label and at VERY REASONABLE PRICES. So often restaurants use their wines as profit centers. They offered several wines right around $20 that were quite acceptable. While they had a very decent selection (all the "usual suspects" such as Frog's Leap, Silver Oak, Stag's Leap, etc. and some over $100), you also had a choice of several where you didn't feel like you were getting hammered just because you wanted a glass or bottle with your meal. Also a pretty good selection of wines "by the glass" or "quarter". CLEARLY this is a restaurant that is more interested in seeing you leave happy and come back soon rather than simply making a buck off you during the visit. Well done guys! We will SO be back - and hope we have to wait for our reservations again ;) P.S.: As mentioned, we arrived shortly before 6:30 and parking was not an issue (and seems to be free everywhere I noticed).

My friend took me here for lunch. Apparently this is her favorite Italian restaurant. She told me how good and authentic the food was here. I was very excited. And she was right. It's a very cute hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I liked the cozy atmosphere. The bread and the dipping oil were awesome. I had the "Pollo Al Gorgonzola": Boneless chicken breast, sauteed in white wine with fresh mushrooms, and finished in a gorgonzola brandy cream sauce. It was my friend's recommendation. The sauce was good. It was served over some fettuccine pasta, which was good as well. I wish they served just a little more pasta though. It was very very little.. My friend said she got a lot more pasta the last time she had the dish, so I am not sure why it was so little this time. My overall experience here was good. The food was good, but did not dazzle me, which is why I am not giving it 5 stars. I will be back here to try some other dishes!

Visited during the week for lunch with my husband. Must say the food was Good. Caprese salad was delicious. For my main meal, I had the Gnocchi which was a bit hard but the sauce was very flavorful. My husband had the butternut or pumpkin (not sure which one it was) raviolis which were delicious. Very nice local wines on wine list....extra credit to them for supporting local wineries. Only down size for ME.....location of bathrooms. They are too close to tables for my comfort level.

I don't really need to write this place another favorable review, since they have so many. In fact, this review is more for Yelp than Maurizio's. Me and a friend were driving down to Monterey after a round of golf in San Jose, it was getting late, and we need a place to eat. I got on Yelp, saw the reviews for this place, and we headed straight for it. And everything was great! Including the food, the service, the wine. This is a family place, the kind of place where people like to stop and thank the wait staff and the chef (who you can see through the window) on their way out. I love that I no longer need to take blind chances anymore. Previously we would have ended up at the Denny's just off the freeway, but with Yelp we ventured into the heart of sleepy Morgan Hill, down a dark street where we would've imagined that everyplace was closed, found Maurizio's (it was 9 p.m.), got served, and had a delicious meal. Bravo!

I wanted to go to lunch in Morgan Hill before PM meetings and found this gem of a place. When we got there shortly after 12, it was empty but quickly filled up after that. Bread was really nice. The penne pasta with sausage in marianara was a bit on the sour side. This sauce needs the whole day of cooking to rid of the sour taste.

Wonderful romantic restaurant. Great food. My husband had a ribeye steak: it was cooked perfectly and he loved it! I had a pasta dish with a creamy tomato sauce. Though it looked small in size, it was very filling, and the pasta was homemade. The wine selection is great (great local wines), and the service is outstanding. We didn't have reservations on a Friday night, but we were seated right away. Great place: looking forward to trying "The Good Fork" since they are owned by the same person as Maurizio's. It is a little pricey, though--our meals and wine were about 80+ dollars, so look to spend that if you have wine with your meal. It is definitely worth it.

I don't know what took me so long to get to this place, but it was worth the wait! I went with a friend for lunch (go early they close at 2pm and stay for awhile). The roasted garlic dip was delectable! I had the Rotelle di Parma - SO GOOD! It tasted fresh and loved the melted, gooey mozzarella cheese on top! I found out that the owner used to own Mangia la Pizza (used to be my favorite pizza place!). As much as I miss that place, this may now be my GO TO Italian restaurant in MH!

2 3/4 I know I'm the minority rating here. There are a lot of reviews for this place so I will TRY to keep it short and brief. -Date night, made reservations, restaurant 1/2 full and seated in the back near the kitchen and cashier. Not good. -Over dressed salad, tasty and good but overdressed. -4 star calamari, not overcooked, great spicy marinara for dipping and there were tentacles! -5 Husband liked his dish, I thought the risotto was way undercooked. but he doesn't have it enough to know better, it wasn't al dente, it was just chalky in the middle. -6 I had the veal saltimbocca w/porcini's. Veal was not cooked right and was gummy on the outside and no sign of porcini but white cremini's definitely made their presence. I'm not stupid, I know what a porcini is and I know it is rare to get them fresh but there was no sign of even a dried one on my plate. That's what you pay the big bucks for right? -7 Service was good, everyone was pleasant and attentive. Not sure if I'll try again.

I don't normally give out five stars. In fact, I rarely do, but Maurizio's deserves it. I found this amazing place thanks to Yelp! We met up with some friends who live in Morgan Hill on Saturday night for dinner. Now, because of Yelp, I knew to call ahead and make reservations, and I'm really glad I did. We got in at 7 and the place was packed. I mean, literally packed. Those who didn't make reservations were standing awkwardly at the door, kind of hovering over the diners that were near the door. What my friends and I did notice, however, was that the people waiting were treated to complimentary glasses of wine and crostinis while they waited! My friends told me to make sure to mention that in my review, which I am. :) I thought that was super classy. The restaurant is quite small and almost uncomfortably cramped. You're kind of right on top of the diners next to you. We still had a great time though, and it didn't bother us. I was very impressed that the waiters are actually Italian, with the big booming voices and their thick Italian accents! I come from an Italian family, and I loved it! Too bad I don't know more Italian-need to learn some. They brought out fresh, soft, warm bread with roasted garlic olive oil dip. YUM! My friend and I were discussing how to make it at home. I ordered the polenta/mushroom/ gorgonzola cream sauce appetizer as my meal. I can never eat much in one sitting. My partner had the tortellini with prosciutto, and our friends had the trout and the liguine alla puttanesca. Everyone raved about their dishes. For as busy as the place was, our service was very prompt. We finished the evening with bread pudding and a delicious cannoli for dessert. Double yum! All in all, a great find in Morgan Hill, and I've already recommended it to some people. I will definitely be back!

We went to Maurizio's for dinner The service was great and the food was delicious. It's a VERY small restaurant. Every word of your conversation will be heard clearly by the people sitting next to you because they are sitting so close.

Flavorful calamari. Robust red sauce with grilled eggplant, veal was excellent too. A perfect way to end the day!

simple and cute Italian restaurant in downtown Morgan Hill. Small menu and incredibly cheap prices (most dishes are $10 for lunch) sets Maurizio's apart from all wannabe Italian restaurants. With great attention to details, portions are small but beautiful to look at and even better to consume. While waiting, fresh hot bread with roasted garlic olive oil with chunks of garlic will keep your belly happy. I ordered Rotelli Di Parma and with the first bite, this dish entered my top 10 dishes of all time. Just read the description: "Fresh house made pasta topped and rolled with imported mortadella meat and mozzarella, baked in mozzarella and tomato cream sauce." It tastes even better that it sounds. Dang it...I want it again....dang it, it's 40min from here....OWEIFMEOIUENWUOGNL. I really want to try all the dishes here, especially the dinner menu. Sometimes, when I see signs such as "voted best italian restaurant in 2011" in a small town where this may be the only Italian restaurant to even vote on...I get VERY concerned...though they may not be facing much competition, I really think they still could stand out even in little Italy in SF.

Food was really fresh, light and tasty (well most of it) The spicy red sauce is very good. Fettucini noodles...homemade, served al dente. Eggplant parmesean - mmm...delicious (I got it with the spicy red sauce)...it was mascarpone cheese wrapped in eggplant with sauce and cheese on top! My husband got the italian sausage dish - he enjoyed it. Bread was soft, warm, served with roasted garlic....yummy Only complaint was the fettucini alfredo - the alfredo sauce was not as tasty as I like it and little sauce was served with the noodle...the sauce was not rich, creamy and tasty...but probably healthier! Staff were very friendly and helpful in finding a good veg option for me. I would definitely eat here again!

I've been coming here since 2009. Whenever I would go, Chef Maurizio would come to the table with his son in his arms and just talk about the menu on and on. We'd talk food for a while and he'd just walk back and tell the kitchen what the order was. The food? My californian take is that this would be the food I'd be tasting if I actually went to Italy one of these days. It's not fancy fancy - just great Italian flavors. It just tastes "authentic" to me. I go here whenever I have the chance to.

The fresh bread was heavenly. I was only there a week ago and I can't for the life of me remember what I had for my entree, but I think that's more of my fault. The important part is that I remember it was tasty tasty. We did have an eggplant appetizer that was small and overpriced. Overall, a cozy ambiance and a very enjoyable experience.

This place is a great little find that any tourist, like me, would love. And from the reviews, it sounds more of a local favorite vs. a spot tourists would try. All I say is ... your loss = my gain (literally)! Along with the two baskets of fresh Italian bread and the olive oil w/ roasted garlic to munch on, we started the dinner with appetizers: - Antipasti Melanzane Rollatini (fried eggplant filled with the cream cheese ... Amazing! The cream cheese inside the eggplant = pure bliss!) Bruschetta Sorrentina (a common antipasti, but perfected here ... very, VERY good! It was so good that I almost placed another order!) - Then, with these main dishes Fiocchi con gorgonzola e salvia (Asiago cheese combined with roasted pears is wonderful. And it wasn't overcooked at all (like some reviews mentioned). Heck, I wish this was my dish!) Frutti Di Mare (the special of the day; equal portions of Mussels, Clams, Shrimp, and Squid in a white wine sauce over a bed of Fetuccine. Perfecto!) The food was great! The waitress was awesome and very attentive (although the time between our antipasti dishes and our main course was a bit too long). Overall a great little place that cooks up great Italian classics. And from the other reviews, I'm glad my reservations were taken cuz I'd hate to miss this place. You must try this place if you love authentic Italian food; you won't be disappointed!

We took my BF's grandma here for dinner on a Saturday after Googling Italian restaraunts in the Morgan Hill Area. I read the reviews on Yelp and decided we oughta try it. I took everyone's advice and made a reservation. When we had got there I didn't think we needed a reservation since it was too busy, but as soon as we sat down within 30 minutes the "dinner crowd" began arriving. We ordered the whole shabang.... Wine, entree & dessert. For the price the wine was good, they could taste the barrel which means it's good (or so they said since I don't drink wine). The bread & oil was delish! We tried not to fill up on that since we knew our dinner would be out shortly. The wait wasn't too long. My BF ordered the wrong item and the waitress was very accommodating on adding to his order to similarize what he originally wanted and she did a GREAT job on doing so. For dessert I ordered the Lemon Pie... It was different and good! One main point I liked about this place is that it's very small and the waiters/waitresses are very attentive. We must have stayed at least 2 hours, conversating and trying to finish the bottle of wine, and even though this place got packed, they did not try to rush us out one bit. Granted it's more on the pricey side, I would say it was well worth every dollar for the food & service that was given. I would DEF come back!

Maurizio's was definitely a Yelp find. I had never heard of it before, but it kept coming up with my filters set for best rated nearby restaurants. 4.5 stars with about 80 reviews proves worthy of at least giving it a shot. So I bookmarked it and knew I'd get to it eventually. I made 6:30 reservations (another Yelp recommendation) and found parking right out front. The restaurant is small, looks like reserved seating is inside, while walk ups were seated on the sidewalk. The inside is small and cozy, only about 12-15 tables or so. My wife was pleased to see they offer quartos of wine (comes in mini carafe, 1.5 glasses). I had a hard time deciding my dinner...so many choices. I finally ordered the Short Rib and Gnocchi dish, and my wife ordered the Spaghetti with Rape Broccoli and Italian Sausage. Our bread arrived, it was served with soft garlic cloves in olive oil. Our food quickly followed. My gnocchi was delicious! Served in a fresh tomato sauce, with the soft pork short rib ragu placed in the middle. Wifey's spaghetti was good, but it was more her style than mine. No sauce, just noodles, veggies and sausage. I will say however, the grilled italian sausage in that dish is unforgettable. I'd like a pizza with that on it! We didn't get dessert. But saw some nice looking items go by. I'd definitely come back. Next time I'd try the Veal Parmesan with Veggies and Roasted Potato. That was my runner up... While I've had better Italian, Maurizio's is definitely a solid recommendation. I called it a 4, my wife says 4.5 stars.

OMG, Hole in the wall, off the beaten path BUT AMAZING!! I went here with a larger group for lunch & seriously I don't know why I'd never been before. It's so cute & cozy & has this really good vibe to it. It has to be one of M.hill's treasures. The food is really good..the service is personal & it truly feels like you've stepped into an Italian dining room/kitchen/home. I'd say it would be perfect for dates...mos def.

I was very impressed with this find. We were on our way back from a day at Gilroy Gardens and looking for some non-Applebees or burger dinner with the kids. We looked on Yelp and saw the great ratings and called to see if we could get in and luckily they just had a cancellation. Restaurant is medium sized and very cozy. Wait staff was very friendly as was the chef in the open kitchen by the door. We talked a little bit and he asked questions to my oldest daughter waiting with me. The food was very solid. I think the highlight is their sauces, the tomato sauce on the Involtini Melezane was beautiful. Simple, elegant and delicious. We were all sopping it up with bread. The cream tomato sauce on my canneloni was also very good. My youngest daughter had fettucini alfredo and it wasn't the typical gloppy, starchy mess you sometimes can get. It was a very light sauce that was clearly made with some pride. The orrechette with brocolli rabe and sausage was also very very good. So we really lucked out finding this place, we'd definitely go again when we're in the area. Just make sure to get a reservation as I think they get pretty busy.

Yelp has helped us again find a terrific restaurant. We were traveling back from Tahoe to Arroyo Grande and wanted a nice break from the trip. The service was good and the food was great. We liked the roasted garlic in the olive oil that came with the bread. We both had a Caesar salad which was perfectly dressed and to my husband's delight came with an anchovy. We both had a special pasta which was perfectly seasoned. All in all, an enjoyable stop.

Simple, delicious food made with high quality ingredients. Not to mention AMAZING desserts and wonderful service. Came here after a FIAT club driving tour through Monterey with a group of 18. These guys were so accommodating; the place was packed inside, but they managed to put some patio tables together to fit us in! As for the food, I got the Peperoni (roasted stuffed peppers, not the red sausage on pizza!) and arugula salad. Both very good. The mix of flavors and textures in the arugula - sweet crunchy pecans, tart apples, creamy smooth burrata, peppery arugula - was really nice. Another great entree was the special seafood linguine. However, dessert is my favorite meal, so I'm a little biased towards the last dishes: creme brulee (perfect! not too eggy or too thin), la bomba, and the winner, the lemon pie. Wow. If I'm ever back, I'm getting that lemon pie again. It had lemon filling layered with vanilla ice cream in a graham crust with a meringue topping. YUM. They also get a service award for splitting a group of 18 into several confusing separate bills.

Went to Maurizio's March 21,2012. I was disappointed. as I had visited Maurizio's many times over the past four to five years and always had a pleasant dining experience. However, since remodeling and changing the menu the a few months back the quality has noticeably declined. I have not seen Maurizio in the kitchen on recent visits and the quality of the food has shown his lack of presence in the kitchen. On the March 21st visiti, the veal scallopini was so tough the waiter brought a steak knife along when he presented the veal entree. Veal is supposed to be fork tender. The pasta dishes remain very good!

Just finished a really great meal at Maurizio's! We came to town for the half marathon and were craving a good pasta dinner. Luckily we stumbled upon Maurizio's as it was a delight. I have a garlic allergy, (which often makes eating at italian restaurants tough, but the staff was super accommodating which I was really impressed by, especially given how busy they were. The warm bread they brought out first thing was so good. Then we split the mista salad which was delicious. I had the rigatoni with meat sauce and it was exactly what I had been craving. There was a perfect ratio of meat/sauce and pasta. I can't say enough good things. I was pleasantly surprised and would certainly be back. Now I just hope the half marathon goes as well!

my husband and i are have been there a couple of times. we went there a few weeks ago since we were baby free. this is one of my favorite italian places. i love italian and very picky about food. the staff is friendly and nice. the ambience is very romantic. it was a l tittle cold last time we went and i told the waiter and he said he would turn off the fan. he was so nice. i had the cannoli and it was yummy. its very filling so we had ordered an appetizer and ate all the bread so when the entrees came, we were about to explode but no big deal since it was my left over lunch for the next day. :)

We dined here last Friday I called to make a reservation a few hours in advance like Yelpers recommended and they had me set to go . We actually ended up getting there 30 minutes early and they still seated us immediately and really catered to us. I was very pleased with the bread and wine list . My husband had the creamy potato soup and a beef tenderloin salad for an appetizer Super delicious !!!!! The soup was home made and full of flavor . The sale was delicate , fresh and lightly flavored . For our entrees my husband ordered the salmon dinner plate and I ordered the hand rolled ground beef pasta dish - sorry I don't know the exact name It was delicious !!!!! 10 out of 10 Lightly sauced and intense flavor inside of the hand made rolled noodles I could've eaten two servings of this My husband doesn't really care for pasta and he kept picking at my plate He lived both dinners The service was not the fastest but hey , it was a Friday night . Busy and we showed up early . Thankful that they seated us right away and we really enjoyed our meals . I would recommend this place for any Italian lovers Delicious

Mama Mia!! Maurizios is delicioso!!! We enjoyed everything about our dinner: Polenta appetizer Bottle of wine: Martin ranch cab Mista salad Veal Cannelloni Tiramisu Everything was absolutely delicious, I wasn't expecting it!! The restaurant is very small, so you do sit quite close to the other customers. And I don't recommend a party larger than 6. I would say this is above casual dining. One of the nicer places to eat in the area!! I can't wait to come back and mangia mangia!!!

Our hotel clerk suggested we dine at Maurizio's. We had a great meal, friendly, fast service. My husband and I shared our whole meal and they were happy to accomodate us. We shared carpaccio, ceasar salad and the rib-eye steak. Everything tasted great, I would eat here again.

OVERALL: I LOVE this restaurant. I have lived in Morgan Hill for 22 years, and just recently stumbled upon this gem because my boyfriend, who is new to the area, invited me to dinner here. I would recommend to come to dinner here, and make reservations, or come early, as the place is rather small. SERVICE: The service is very good. You will be seated promptly if you arrive early. The only complaint I would have is that they are not 100% consistent with telling every table the specials for the night. I have gone twice now, and the first time the waitress did not tell us the specials, but she told the table seated after us. The second time, the waiter told us, and I ordered one of the specials. Despite this minor problem, they are attentive and sincere. They bring you bread and garlic olive oil and waters when you are seated. They take your order for starters and give you time to read the rest of the menu. You don't feel rushed. They ask you about your food after you have tried it, and will fix any problems. For example, the last time I ate here for dinner, my boyfriend ordered the steak medium rare. It was BLOODY and I half expected it to "moo" as he cut into it. The waiter saw it was undercooked from across the room and offered to cook it to our satisfaction. It came back PERFECT. In addition to fixing the problem with out entree, he also gave us one dessert for free to make up for the fact the food had to go back. EXCELLENT! FOOD: To start the bring a garlic infused oil with lots of roasted garlic cloves with warm fresh bread. Try not to fill up on this tasty freebie. The Burrata Forno Con Pomodorini ($8) is a MUST ORDER!!! It is a starter to die for. It consists of homemade fresh mozzarella stuffed with mascarpone cheese, oven roasted tomatoes, grilled crostini, and frissee with a tapanade-like dressing, and drizzled with a basil oil. You assemble the elements to make the ultimate bruschetta This is meant to feed several people, or one greedy person. I like to order my own, its too good to share! The Calamari Fritti ($11) is also good. I am not the biggest fan of calamari, however this was really fresh and not the slightest bit chewy, as calamari often tends to be when overcooked. They also fried lemon wheels as a fun garnish to the plate. For my main, I have had the Funghi Alla Napoleone ($15). It is a vegetarian napoleon with grilled portabello, squash, zucchini, ricotta cheese, filo, and tomato sauce. You can taste every element of this dish, which is harder to do with vegetarian dishes. The mushrooms are smoky and meaty, the squash and zucchini fresh and not slimy, the ricotta adds an richness to leave you satisfied, and the filo a fun crunch. Dessert is the fun part ($6 each). I love to have a decaf Cappuccino with my sweets. I am always a fan of tiramisu, and theirs is no exception! However, I would have to say the best dessert here is the Coppa Catalana. It is basically a creme brule, and absolutely amazing. I have also tried the Bomba, and while it is good, it is VERY difficult to eat, being a frozen ball. ATMOSPHERE: This is a small, and I mean small, restaurant. There are probably about 10-15 tables total. There is no waiting area, and you can see the kitchen from every seat. It is a nice place to have a family dinner, or a date night.

If you want a restaurant with great service, that is small and cozy and has good food then this is the place for you. The food was great and the service was even better. One of the people in our group wanted an item that they didn't have on the menu and the waitress offered to go across the street to another one of Maurizio's restaurants and get it. I had the carpaccio di bue for appetizer and it was great. The flavor was great and the beef was nice and tender. The portion was a little small but not enough to stop me from going back. For my meal I had the pork filled ravioli which was a special for the night. They were cooked to perfection and had a sauce that was to die for! Oh and the wine selection was great. I will be back when in the area for sure!

Amazing!!! A fabulous dining experience! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and the chef (through the kitchen service window)! I was very impressed at the attentiveness and quality of service too! We ordered the Burrata Forno Con Pomodorini as a starter. We were also served free complimentary bread with a garlic infused olive oil. (Really good!) For entrees, my friends and I ordered the Fettucini Al Pescatore, Ravioloni Di Zucca, Anatra Alla Grappa, Salmone Alla Griglia. For desert we ordered the Cannoli and Coppa Catalana. Everything was fantastic! My favorite was the Burrata Forno Con Pomodorini (we ordered it because of a recommendation by another yelper- Thanks A.P.!) It was all very good, but my favorite was the Anatra Alla Grappa because the duck was just so soft and delicious. The waitress had mentioned to us that it takes 6 hours to prepare. It is fantastic! I highly recommend it! We had so much food already, but we couldn't pass on dessert. And I'm so glad we didn't. It was so good! Everything was so good! I can't wait to come back again!

Fantastic food, service, atmosphere. I sampled a specialty item: pear stuffed pasta purses with gorgonzola cream. Absolutely to die for. Salads & bread were excellent. For an entree, I had the orecchiette with italian sausage & a friend had the rigatoni, which I sampled. Both were perfect. We chatted it up with the chef & servers while waiting; such nice folks. And yes, we waited a while because the place is packed. Definitely get a reservation. Even one glitch/delay in receiving our entree was promptly acknowledged by the server himself (as in, we didn't even have to say a word; the dude was in tune to his patrons), who gladly topped off our wine for our trouble. The entire experience was so "right," even the delay was a welcome reason to linger there longer. I love this place!

My wife and I had lunch here the other day and it was really great. We started with fresh bread and roasted garlic olive oil. Bruschetta and Involtini next both had very fresh ingredients and were prepared wonderfully. Ceasar salad was next very crispy lettuce and tangy housemade dressing. We both had a pasta my wife the fetticine with chicken and sun dried tomatoes was very nice. I had the Fiocchi and it was fabulous pear stuffed pasta with gorgonzola cream sauce -amazing. Had to take the Cannoli home for dessert later. Every detail of the food and service was well thought out. This was our first time here and we will be back.

We have been fans of Maurizio for many years. Now that he has three restaurants in Morgan Hill, it's hard to choose which one to enjoy. Maurizio's restauraunt has a great atmosphere, and wonderful food. It can be a bit noisy and crowded, but that adds to the charm. I've been to Italy, and still think that Maruizio's is the best Italian cooking!!

Made reservations for a party of 8 for a combined birthday celebration. Arrived & was told that we had no reservations but that a table would open up in just a minute or two. Birthday cake was taken by staff to the kitchen (presumably) and was told, "We're very crowded so you have to wait outside". Great, October cold with an 80 yr old man in tow... 20 minutes freezing outside & we were no closer to being seated. After a 30 minute wait, took the cake & went to Round Table... Staff was rude, condescending and arrogant. The one star is for the advice from someone who observed this debacle...I wouldn't eat here if I was you... I didn't & I won't......

This place just makes you feel good. Almost as if you were a long lost 2nd cousin visiting your families Italian restaurant. My friend and I even had the added bonus of eating outside on a nice sunny day. The reason why I decided to open a yelp account and review Maurizio's was because of the owners amazing hospitality. How many different ways can a host make his guest feel welcome? Well, I lost track. Because that's exactly what I was, guest, and not a customer. His personality just made us smile. He happily told us the specials multiple times after I was interrupted by and outside phone call. He even asked to make a personalized dish with what ever protein, pasta and sauce I felt like eating. The food was also with out flaw. Starting with the bread and olive oil with whole roasted garlic...i was taken back to my backpacking trip in southern Europe. Maurizio's interpretation of Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca left me soaking up ever last drop with his delicious Italian bread. I didn't even leave a single caper on his plate. I was so into my dish i completely forgot to take picture or ask to taste my friends dish. Oh well, now ill have an excuse to go back and taste more of Maurizio's creations.

Best restaurant in Morgan Hill period. If you want great food, excellent service, and a great dining experience, Maurizio's is the place. We have been eating at Maurizio's for years. never had a bad experience. Small, intimate, friendly and everything on the menu is fantastic. We eat out 3 to 4 times a week. If I had to pick one place to go ... this is it!

3.5 stars. This restaurant is pretty good, but I wouldn't hem and haw about it like some of the other reviewers. Maybe I haven't been trying the right dishes, but I would describe their food as pretty good. Nothing I would freak out over, but if I wanted some Italian in Morgan Hill I would probably go here. Their salads are pretty tasty and I've never had a problem with their service. I do have some bad news though: I once saw Maurizio at Costco in Gilroy buying a whole bunch of tortellini and ravioli (the kind in the plastic package.) No joke. Maybe he was buying it for his family, but it was certainly a lot. Even if he does use this in his restaurant, however, I still think the food is the best Italian in Morgan Hill. A nice sauce can cover up Costco pasta anyway.

Again I tried Maurzio's on Tuesday night at about 8:30pm. I know that when I show up alone, late on a weeknight I am not going to have the peak of perfection. However, I do find out the overall consistency of a restuarant and the service. Again the service was excellent and salad was still very fresh and crisp. The bread tasted like it had just been baked. The ribeye steak was excellent and cooked to perfection. Medium rare is their standard and I have to say I was very pleased with the texture and taste. The only drawback was the fact that the steak was probably about a pound and a half and I wasted part of it.

I came here last night with my fiance for our anniversary. When we walked in it was very small maybe 10 tables and they also had seating outside but it was so cute, very cozy and warm. We were seated right away upon walking in. I loved how everyone who worked there spoke Italian and would speak it to us, then they would translate it in English for us! They served us water right away with warm bread and this whole garlic in oil sauce, very yummy. We ordered Bruschetta for appetizer and it was very good! We then ordered a salad to share and it was so yummy, slices of green apples and basil and mozzarella cheese and roasted almonds and greens and it was amazing! I ordered the fresh rolled pasta in a light red/orange cream sauce and OMG it was so good! My FI ordered the sausage stuffed ravioli's and he ate every last bit it was delicious! I also ordered a glass (quartino) of wine! All this for 59 bucks! WOW! Prices are great, food amazing and service awesome! Love the location right in the heart of down town Morgan Hill, after dinner we walked down and got some Gelato! It was a great evening and we will for sure be coming back here :)

Easy street parking right out front was a good start, then got a good warm vibe and a friendly greeting when we walked in. Got a small table by the window without any trouble. Would have been nice to eat on the street except is was a cool night. Maybe some other time. The menu here is your typical neighbourhood italian fare. A page of apps and antipasto, a page of various pastas in various sauces and a page of meat 'secondi' on the back with veal, chicken, fish, pork and a steak. Asked the waitress for recommendations only to learn that she was 'new here' and didn't know. Her more seasoned associate had a few ideas but was still sort of confusing. At least she was honest about what she didn't like so much. Got a couple basic pasta dishes and a couple glasses of house chianti for $7 each. Seemed like a smallish pour and the wine was just ok. Pasta was decently tasty, hearty and the portion size was about right. I liked the ravioli better than the fettucini in meat sauce. Whatever. This is an OK neighborhood Italian joint with a nice vibe, hit and miss service and decent but not stellar food. Worth a visit. I'll try it again on warm night and score a table outside.

We love Maurizio's! We come a couple of times a week for lunch. We have also been here for dinner on several occasions, but we tend to save dinners for special occasions. Recommend trying their daily soup - it's nearly always excellent, and they're not the same ol', same ol' soups. Shrimp bisque is amazing! Even their lentil soup was tasty, and I don't like lentils. Anything with fresh pasta has been good. Have enjoyed capellini pomodoro, alfredo, and raviolis. The salmon Caesar salad is refreshing. Lunch rib eye is yummy and very filling - and well-priced. Fried calamari is well-done, seasoned just right, and a nice app if you have more than two to share. If you can, try the burrata as well!

Excellent food: rich, bold and well balanced. Easily one of the best Italian places in the area, in particular since it avoids the greatest mistake Italian restaurants make: over-powering sauces/flavors. The food was fresh, clean and juicy (in regards to the sauces). The deserts were impressive. Unfortunately it gets very busy and a bit too crowded.

I have never been disappointed eating here not once. The service is exceptional, the food is yummy and soulful. It's the best Italian food in the area if you don't feel like going to San Jose!

I don't doubt that this is the best restaurant in Morgan Hill. I dined at this locals' favorite recently with some peeps and it was was pretty good. I love Italian food and on Monday nights, there is even singing and serenading by a man playing the keyboard. The bruschetta was good, the cesare classico could have been better, and the Bocconcini di maiale Alla griglia(pork wrapped with pancetta), was a little dry. However, Veal Piccata was more than stomach worthy and the Fiocchi con gorgonzola e salvia was simply amazing. You have got to try this dish - sweet and savory good. I highly recommend it!

I love pasta. I looooooooooove pasta. I want to make puppies with pasta. Yes. It took me the longest time to figure out that Italians eat foods other than pasta. The majority of the pasta dishes feature fresh pasta. One of the dishes contained pasta pouches filled with pear. In a butter sauce or in a gorganzola sauce. The pouches were eh, the gorganzola sauce was finger licking good. My BF and I shared two different ravioli dishes. He seems to have the worst of luck with picking things to eat. When we go to sushi, he orders the wrong thing. When we go to chinese food, he orders the wrong thing. Surprise, surprise, when we came here, he ordered possibly the worst item on the menu. He got the meat ravioli with tomato meat sauce. It tasted like it came out of a can. The meat was not good quality and had a funny aftertaste. The sauce was bland. I got the mushroom ravioli. The creamy tomato sauce was a bit strange. I would have either had it creamy or tomato, not both. Or creamy with diced fresh tomatoes. The ravioli was in a crescent moon shape. The filling was nice, except the flavor of the porcini mushrooms needed a little more soaking in the water. It tasted like it had not been completely reconstituted prior to assembly. Other than that, the flavors worked out well. The restaurant was very accommodating and it got really really busy. I can see how this would be the best restaurant in Morgan Hill. However, I would not drive 2 hours just to eat here.

Hand's down one of the BEST Italian restaurants in the south bay. This place is always packed, but it's nice to know you'll get a seat with friendly service. Maurizio's has been my regular hang out for the past 9 years. All my family and friends love coming here . The gorgonzola with polenta is to die for :)

I L-O-V-E LOVE this restaurant! When I first came to Morgan Hill 7 years ago, I ate the chicken Marsala every Saturday night for about a year... It's THAT good! There are so many delicious items on the menu, the staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is homey and comforting- almost like being in back in Nana's kitchen, surrounded by happy people and amazing food! I no longer live in Morgan Hill, but every time I'm back, Maurizio's is the first place I want to eat! It's the only place I frequently eat at which I have never had a single bad experience!

Our hotel suggested the place as a "good" casual Italian place. Ate outside, had a great meal, great service, incredibly friendly. Standard Italian/America fare, good wine list. No complaints at all.

I would have liked to give a five star review but my linguine with clams and white sauce was just not very good. It had tiny clams with hardly any meat and canned tomatoes and no flavor. It was clam shells and linguine. That aside, everything else was very good. The menu selection is small but the wine list is long with reasonably priced bottles available. The bread served with warm olive oil and roasted garlic is great. So was the polenta with mushroom and creamy Gorgonzola sauce appetizer. The other dish we ordered, cannelloni, was also very good. For desert we had the lemon sorbet in a frozen lemon. The sorbet was good but they served it over a drizzle of chocolate sauce. I did not think the lemon and the chocolate went well together especially since the sorbet had just a slight bitter note. Raspberry sauce would have been awesome with it. That fits my first impression of a place that is good overall but inconsistent. Thus the four stars. Service was excellent. We will come back. Lastly, we did ask for the antipasto pictured on the website and were told they serve that sometimes. They did not have the meats on hand.

I've had two amazing meals at Maurizio's - one was a catered retirement party and the other, dinner with the boyfriend. I was amazed at the catered retirement party - about 50 people and all the food was hot, delicious, and unique. One of the standouts was a pasta roll of sorts, pasta rolled with cheese and meat, baked in a sauce. Wow, I dreamed about that dish for weeks afterward. When we went again, we searched the menu for the pasta roll dish, and I have to say, it was amazing yet again. We had a great dinner, and it was reasonably priced. If only pasta full of cheese and meat was good for you - I'd be there weekly.

Came here promptly at noon, with a group of 10 people. Because there were only a few patrons, we were able to order fairly quickily. However, once we ordered, the restaurant started to fill up and it look some time for us to get all our food. Luckily we were able to snack on some bread and olive oil soaked garlic dip. Probably after about 25 minutes, our food finally started to come out. I ended up with the Cavatappi Con Salsicia. The sauce had just a hint of spiciness, and the sausage was really flavorful. The food tasted pretty good, but probably could have used a bit more meat. Prices were fairly reasonable at $10 a dish, however, the portion size was a bit small. I also ordered a bomba, which was chocolate and vanilla gelato with bits of almonds, covered in a chocolate shell. It was very rich, but I had a hard time finishing it. Overall, I'd say the quality of the food was good, but the quantity was just ok, and service was pretty slow.

i thought i used to love calamari - i ordered it wherever i went. but after having calamari at maurizio's, calamari elsewhere was no longer delightful. best calamari ever! the warm bread they give you to dip in olive oil with roasted garlic is worth it on its own. don't go if you want a quick dinner though -- service is very slow.

HEADLINE: Very nice little Italian hole-in-the-wall, great pastas, but quite heavy on the salt in their sauces ... and expect dinner to last well over two hours on a busy evening. The three of us hit this place last night. We had 7:00 PM reservations ... I had asked if we could have a table near the windows upon making them earlier in the week and, indeed, we were whisked to a table for four near the front of the restaurant by our overly-perky little hostess. Nice start to the evening right there! The place was packed, including the little tables outside on the sidewalk ... I guess it's rep has definitely gotten outside sleepy lil' Morgan Hill. It took a while for our waitress to appear on the scene, but when she did she showed up with three wine glasses. My bottle of 2007 Rombauer Chard was sitting prominently on the table. The bottle was corked and poured into my glass. Wifey wanted to have a glass of their house Chianti, and the lad just wanted ice water and a Coke. Chianti was excellent according to the boss and at $7 a glass, there's value there. I can buy Rombauer for $27 a bottle, so even with the $15 corkage fee (not bad) I was still way ahead of the game. It took about ten minutes for the waters and Chianti to show up, and then another ten or fifteen for our order to be taken. I know this is a traditional Italian restaurant and everything is made to order, but you HAVE to slow down at the end of the day and just enjoy the company and the ambiance ... relax! Apps when they finally did arrive were generally very good. The boss had their Melanzane Rollatini in a cheesey tomato sauce ... very good tasting but, as a harbinger of things to come the rest of the evening, the dish's only flaw was an abundance of sodium in the sauce. I had wanted their calamari app but, alas, they were out of it, so I went with the clams and mussels ... very nice little portion of shellfish in what appeared to be a savory saffron / white wine broth ... shellfish done to perfection, not overcooked, but again the broth, while delightful to sop up with the table bread, was very salty ... almost to the point of overpowering the delicate dish. The lad had their bruschetta ... he complained loudly about the lack of a carparccio appetizer on the menu ... and I have to agree with him here ... how can a little Italian joint NOT have carparccio on their menu somewhere????? I mean we literally drive to Osteria in Palo Alto almost just for theirs. Some time later our second courses arrived ... the lad had their evening's special NY Strip Steak covered with fresh peppers and vegetables and a light Balsamic vinegar reduction ... the cut of meat was perfectly cooked and it disappeared in a matter of minutes. The wife had their Veal Picatta ... she raved all night long about how good it was. I had their Ravioli Rossini ... porcini-filled ravioli's in a creamy tomato sauce ... pasta was done al dente ... perfecto! ... the filling was abundant and flavorful ... very good, and the sauce was very good as well, but again quite salty. Good-sized portions across the board, I must say. Two hours into the meal, we were delivered dessert menus, the lad had the Tartufo ... a white and dark chocolate moussey thing that he proclaimed was 'amazing' ... again, the concoction disappeared in minutes ... sampling a spoonful, it was quite refreshing. At our waitress' suggestion, the wife ordered up the Cannoli. The filling was very good and the crust of the cannoli itself was very crispy ... very good ... not as good as Libby's on Wooster Street in New Haven, but very good nonetheless. A few nits about the place. They could not put another seat or table into the space if they had a crowbar ... it is insanely crowded and the hard surfaces create quite the cacophony when things heat up around 8:30 - 9:00 PM. Romantic diners wishing for a little peace and quiet for conversation may be disappointed here on busy evenings. For groups, though, this place is perfect ... just be ready to amp it a couple of decibels when needed. I'm quite happy to pay a corkage fee, and $15 is quite reasonable ... but if I bring a bottle of white into the place, I would expect them to put it in an ice bucket for me ... they did not, and by the end of the evening our Chard was easily room temperature ... I don't think I'm being unreasonable on this one. I can't get over the amount of salt employed by the kitchen. Both myself and the wife woke up this morning looking like blow fish ... Chef, let the nuances of your plates come through, they'd be even better with half the sodium employed. Having said this, I did not see the proprietor on premises at any time this evening. All in, pre-tip, a little less than $50 a person ... pretty reasonable, but this is Morgan Hill. I'm rounding, way up, to four stars ... this little place is not as good as Osteria, in my humble opinion, and that's my rating for them.

Food was excellent! I had a past dish and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My husband had a grilled pork dish that was the special the night we went. It was so good that I wish I had ordered that also! The only reason I didn't give this restaurant 5 stars is because the tables are very close together so it is difficult to have a conversation without getting loud. This is understandable though because the restaurant is small.

This has to be one of the BEST Italian Restaurants in the South Bay, heck the entire Bay Area in my opinion! The location is great and the food is amazing!! The feeling that you get when you walk in this place is instant Italian family love. It literally looks like the inside of a house with cute Italian decor and photos all over the walls. Other yelpers had commented on the pace of the service, but my experience was very different. We were seated immediately, and had drinks to our table within 5 minutes. FANTASTIC Pino Grigio i must add!! The food is sooo delicious, its hard to describe! Its not your typical heavy Italian food, its perfect portion sizes with a blast of Delicious flavor in every bite! I really enjoyed how the owner comes up with these unique dishes almost every night. It is almost like your at his house. I had these delicious cheese, pea, and prochuttio raviolis with a cream sauce!! Yummy! And can I please comment on the ICE CREAM!!! OMG the spumoni was so fresh with chunks of cherries in it!! Yum!! Maurizio puts so much thought and passion into what he does, you can taste his love for cooking in every bite This sort of restaurant deserves a few hours of your time so don't come if you are in a rush! Sit back, relax and really savor the good food and great wine...i did!! Can't wait to go back!!!

The best dining in Morgan Hill. Wife and I were not expecting such a white glove experience after walking in the unassuming front door. I had the steak....unbelievable. If you're in Morgan Hill and want a romantic meal in an intimate setting...give this lace a shot.

I read about Maurizio's here on Yelp before my recent trip to the Gilroy Garlic festival and I'm very glad I listened! I had the pancetta wrapped pork tenderloin over gorgonzola gnocchi. Simply superb, albeit a bit of a heavy hand with the sauce. My buddy had the vodka sauce, also molto buono!! Their caesar was a little odd, but hey that's a Mexican dish anyway right?? :) It would have been a five star slam dunk if our waiter hadn't been such a dick. Now I am by no means a high maintenance patron, but I mean really-would it kill you to make some eye contact with me?? And tossing the check on the table while not even stopping on your way to the next table is really not the best touch...

The service at this restaurant was unacceptable. The waiter was a complete jerk! So much so, that after he glared at my friend (for the second or third time) for simply requesting him, I walked in to the facility (my two friends and I were dining outside) and let the hostess who was on the phone, have it! The staff tried to make it up to us by providing a few free drinks, limoncellos and dessert. I would chose a different restaurant if you are ever in the Morgan Hill area and in the mood for Italian.

I loved this place. I am getting married in Morgan Hill and our rehearsal was there as well. After, we made reservations for the 20 (or more, I forget) of us to go to Maurizio's. It's a very small restaurant, but that adds to it's charm I'd say. We were all in for a surprise! We got what felt like (and could have been) a 10 course meal. It was amazing! Every dish, I felt was fantastic. I ate so much, in fact, I might not fit into my dress! The service was great, as well. Never a glass not refilled, food out in a timely manner, our main waitress was sweet and caring! If I lived closer, I'd be at this place every day of the week. Better than any Italian restaurant in Walnut Creek or nearby me. Bottom line: Food is amazing, service is perfect, and atmosphere is lively and fun.

Very nice Italian place. A bit pricey for what I'm used to, but it was just SO great to find a decent Italian place here in California. I had the Fettuccini Gamberi, and it was chock full of shrimp and covered in a decadent cream sauce. The sauce was a little bit too thick for my tastes, and the shrimp a tiny tiny bit chewy, but overall, I was very pleased with this dish. I did feel like my arteries were clogging as I ate it though. My dining partners each had the special (Rack of Lamb) and they said it was pretty damned amazing. They cleaned their places, and then cleaned mine for me. Either they were just really hungry, or the food was THAT good. I wish there was a place closer to SJ that has food that is as good!

This is a great restaurant. The food there is good and so is the wine. The food is a bit pricey, but this is truly one of the best, if not the best, Italian restaurants in Morgan Hill. The restaurant is small and I often find myself bumping into the person next to me while we are eating dinner. That bothers me. It also bothers me that I feel like I can't really have a conversation with the person I am out with, without having the two tables next to me overhearing our conversation - this is when you are speaking in a normal tone. I think it's charming that one of their small sons or grandsons will go around asking the customers if they need anything. Very cute and well behaved boys! All in all, its a great place to go out for a date night with your hubby.

The food is excellent. The service staff is all friendly. I would recommend the Rotelle! And the calamari is some of the best I have ever tasted, did I detect a hint of Parmesan cheese in the batter? Well done everyone.

Fantastic dinner. We were seated within just a few minutes of our arrival and while we waited they opened our wine and handed us each a glass. Ordered our meal family style (brought the children) and everyone had a great evening. Kid's can't wait to go back. Corkage is reasonable and definitely helped keep the overall price of the meal down.

Some of the best Italian food on the planet is found at Maurizio's in Morgan Hill, CA. It reminds me of the little family restaurant outside Rieti with it's passionate chef/owner, friendly service, and a living room vibe that's instantly comfortable. The wine list has unusual surprises from both California and Italy. If what you want is not on the menu, simply ask. Make sure you get to know Maurizio and his wife Sarah. These are the kind of folks you want in your life.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
